I have such weird dreams, especially if they are bad. Like a couple nights ago I had a dream that I was aboard a 747 jumbo jets that have a split second level on top and it suffered a decompression and exploded in mid air shortly after take off due to a fuel tank explosion. It ended with me, somehow still "alive" hurrying into the cockpit and trying to pull the plane out of it's upside down nose dive but it crashed killing everyone on board. That same night I had a dream about a graduation ceremony. So random, always wondered why tht stuff happens and why the mind works that way.

The mind can respond to stimuli experienced throughout the day, such as a movie, a game, a book, etc; these things appear in our dreams, and can often muddle an analysis of a dream, so it's important to have a good idea of what is junk, and what is not. If you saw a film about such a plane, then you might want to just ignore it; this is a general rule of thumb, for me. Sometimes we dream as our minds explore things that we otherwise wouldn't; this is normal. Our minds sometimes deal with things we can't deal whilst awake, such as a tough break-up with a loved one, an argument with someone close to you, etc. Dreams happen for a number of reasons, and it is pretty interesting, or at least to me. Don't buy into the magical nonsense, though, similar to TV magazines with their ridiculous star-sign predictions. If you dream of a cat, it doesn't mean you are going to be great with women the next day; it might be a reflection of your feminist side, but that's about it. I also find that dream psychoanalysis can be subjective, but one thing I've always stuck with, when trying to ascertain a meaning behind a dream, is always to reflect on the dreamer. By following the above, I've managed to get a lot out of some people, based on their dreams; I don't tend to do it know, because, frankly, it takes quite a bit of effort; looking down all the routes, trying to figure out what has meaning to the person, and what has a resemblance, or what is a manifestation of something, etc. If you're really interested, look up some of Freud's dream psychoanalysis; I read something of his ( think wrote by his son, but dictated - I can't remember) a while back and found it very interesting; the way he went about dreams, was actually a lot like how I've gone about them.
Good practice could be to get someone close to you, whom you know well, to tell you their dream, and if you're lucky, you'll get an easy one. Consider things like smells, sights, emotions, and more. Consider things that have a direct personal meaning to them. Try to think of the dream from their perspective; it's like a puzzle. Ask questions, and try to get as much information as you can about the dream, and about aspects of the dream that you feel might reflect them as a person. Try to avoid thinking of the dream as something that will magically happen; think logically and realistically. Writing things down might help, as some people's dreams can get incredibly complex, and the more information you get, the more variables you end up with, making it a very complicated puzzle, and the worst thing about it, is not knowing whether something is even worth analysing, or whether it's just junk; this is why you must ask them whether they recently watched TV, read a book, or had other stimuli that could have affected their dream. A lot of the times, dreams tell you what you already know, so there's nothing particularly fascinating about it, unless you feel the need to understand what it means, so as to separate yourself from it as something distressing, as I've done over the years; understanding something makes it easier not to be afraid of it. Anyway, that's what I've done for years; it's how I cope with dreams, and have helped people with theirs, in the past. Good luck!

I have weird dreams too, so don't feel bad. Usually I can't remember them very long unless I write them down. It will often be of something I just saw before I went to sleep. Usually not scary.
This was a weird one....we were watching that movie where Tom Hanks is shipwrecked and talks to a ball. I went to sleep during it, and I dreamed I lived on a farm, and the farm next to me belonged to Tom Hanks and his wife. They had a whole lot of kids and it was the olden days. One day the wife came and got me, and said there has been a terrible accident. We ran over to the farm on the other side (I was dressed like Little house on the Prairie....we all were)....then, it got creepy because our neighbors across the way got murdered. By their kid. It was a horrid mess. He got arrested. We (me, hubs, Tom Hanks, and Mrs T.H.) were trying to clean the crime scene up when a very tall black man arrived. He said he was friends of the dead people, and was horrified. Then, it gets funny again. He says he is a ham delivery driver, and that our deceased neighbors had ordered some hams, and he didn't know what to do with them. My husband went and talked with him, and returned, saying he had purchased some hams, and that Tom should, too, because it was a GREAT deal. I got mad, and said, "is it really the time to be worrying about ham, when we are trying to clean up a murder scene, and our neighbors are dead?" And he responded, "well, we still need ham!" Another great dream I had....the little picture I have, the little joker guy, is my background on my iPad, which I was playing on before falling asleep. I presume that is what made me have this dream. I am sitting around, actually I think I was making pie or cake or something, and my door rings. It is that guy, joker. Boy, he is ugly. He says, "Hey, come on, we don't have much time! We gotta get the fence fixed and get the stock tank filled." I ask why, and he looks at me like I'm retarded, and says, "the llamas are almost here, and they need water!" We walk around behind my house, and I see he has indeed been hard at work. He has a big galvanized stock tank filling, and has some fencing done, but we have more to do, so we are digging holes for the fence posts, and putting barbed wire up. It is hot, and we are sweating and hungry and thirsty, but we keep going. Just as we finish, a semi pulls up, and then another, and another. They are all full of llamas. We start unloading them, and there are soon about 300. It is way too many for the amount of space, but at least for the time being, they are contained, and have water. We go inside to have a snack and some tea, and relax, and cool down, and talk about our llama plans. I don't know where my husband or kids were, but....we sure could've used some help with that fence! It didn't seem odd at all that someone would dress up in this manner, or that we somehow had this llama thing going. Or the fact that it was over 90 degrees, and he had on that coat or whatever, and didn't remove it, even when we were both about to have heat strokes. Nothing about this seemed odd until I woke up. I don't even remember most of my dreams, but if I can find a pen, I try to write it down. If I go back to sleep, I will forget it. By afternoon I will forget it. Another way is to tell someone right away. I know I had a weird dream two nights ago, and I remember waking up and thinking, wtf....but I don't remember one bit of it. We aren't alone. Last week, my husband dreamed we went out for supper and the people from Pawn Stars were there, and Chumlee got mad because he thought my husband was making fun of him (which he was not) and started yelling at my husband, then he knocked over a chair and was like "F... it, I don't have to put up with this!" And stormed off. I was really mad, my husband said, and was like, "Way to go! You are SUCH an A-hole!" And went out to talk to Chumlee. Hubs just sat there and everyone stared at him and whispered, and he was embarrassed, and actually, he hadn't said anything, but no one believed him. Lol. I try to not remember if my dream is scary. |

Yeah, I have weird dreams too. Different things on different nights. Usually enough of reality to make it really bizarre.

Oh, I know. Most of my dreams, if I can recall them, are bizarre, make no sense, and follow no logic. I cannot interpret them at all, it seems like they often will be about something I am thinking about, or something I happened to see right before I went to sleep. If I do not either tell someone or write it down, I will quickly forget it.
There is no timeline that makes any vague sense, either. One minute, I can be riding a flying dragon across the sea, then, I will be playing twister with a talking dog, and the next minute, hiding in a storm cellar waiting for a tornado to pass. It has always been like this. |
