How do you sit at the computer?

What is your position? Computer ergonomics

I do a modified #7, the trance. I have something to prop my left elbow up on to help support my upper body. I use it most of the time.

Here's the full article:

Study reveals how mobile technology changes the way we work - What's On Dalian

I used to have shoulder and forearm problems from using the computer a lot for work. There are lots of good videos on youtube to get ideas how to help such problems, eg this one for shoulder bursitis:

Anyone else used things like this? Funny how small but frequent exercises can make a huge difference over time for rehabbing these crazy injuries that develop.
Thanks for this!

#5 is the closest. I have terrible posture while at my computer. I put my feet on the floor rests of my desk which makes my feet hurt. I am reminded not to sit like that from the pain. I have my chair set as high as I can yet I still look up to see my screen. I have to tilt my head back due to my bifocals and I get a sore neck and a head ache. You think I'd do something to change my posture but I don't. I guess it's because I'm not sure what to do. So, I suffer.

Cool! 1/6/8. At a desk I have a box or something to put my feet up on. But my samsung is giving me left thumb bursitis, I think. I use a stylus.

I do #'s 4 and 8, though I'm on my bed lying on my side or back to read the screen. Then, I finally sit up straight and type properly. I've certainly felt pulls on my shoulder from time to time though.

Try getting a footrest for your feet.

Replace the chair with one that goes higher if possible.

Getting a pair of reading glasses for use on the PC would stop the neck and headache, er, wouldn't it?

Be careful you don't make your laptop overheat by obstructing the fan

Really? Doesn't that make you crane your neck? I tried that in the past and it makes my neck hurt. When I google terms "computer posture" and go images, what jumps out at me is that the screen should be at or below eye level. I guess whatever works for you works, but why do you think one should look up at the screen in general? I'm curious, because I've never had good body awareness, and it's possible to learn little things that make a huge difference, I find.

Seems the really important thing is back posture, which relates to sitting angle, etc.

Mine is at eye level but I have bad posture and tend to slouch.

Somewhere between a 2 and a 9. I do not have the luxury of a desk in my house, nor a kitchen table. I have a coffee table and a bed, and a laptop, and it's one of those places that I end up working on.

Your monitor should be at eye level, basically. For most people, that constitutes looking 'up' because it involves looking higher than where they'd perhaps expect...
