Well my computer finally stopped working entirely, it was acting up so its not a huge suprise. But yeah basically I tried to restart it, and it went to the 'windows is starting' screen and then instead of taking me to my log in screen it stayed at the black screen.
So now I am using my computers system restore option...which will hopefully get my computer working again. I really can't afford a new one, or to even have it repaired really. Anyone else having computer troubles? |

Did the System Restore work?
If it didn't: Is it a laptop or desktop/tower? What operating system are you on? Have you changed any system-wide/BIOS settings, prior to the hiccup, and if so, what? How has it being acting up, prior to the hiccup? Have you recently installed or removed any hardware? It's entirely possible that it's just the OS that's gone bust, so there's no need to get a new computer just because of the OS; if this is the case, just reinstall your OS. There's two sides to a computer: hardware and software. There are a shocking amount of people out there who waste a perfectly good computer, because their OS got clogged up. To me, a computer is what you can physically see. The OS is just, ... kinda like toast is the heated bread, but the butter is the addon. Some like marmalade (Mac) some like butter (PC) some like jam (Linux) and there's plenty of other, less-common toppings.

Yes it seems the system restore has worked, but there are a few things I have to re-download again since it took it back to factory settings. At least I was able to save my pictures, music and System Mechanic so I can put those back on.
It's a Sony vaio laptop...and I have windows 7. I would say its been acting up for a couple weeks so I did use my System Mechanic, Vaio Care and the windows troubleshooter thing to try and get it working right but none of that was helping. Not sure if I changed any system wide settings or not...I know before it went to the black screen I disabled all the unnessisary back up programs but not sure that would have caused the issue. |

I hope it al works out for you with the restore.
A few weeks ago mine was on the fritz and what drive me insane was not being able to figure out what was wrong let alone to fix it. I had to take it in for help but fortunately a professional took care of it, and up and running again. Things are advancing faster and faster that it has been harder to keep up the changing technology or problems that can come about. I am just grateful there are those that do know about it and are willing to help the rest of us that are falling behind or in my case, in this case, had no clue to begin with for that matter. ![]()

I know it's a PIA, but backing up your systen programs at least, might help.
