For those trying to quit, it may take a few tries and that is ok; do not get discouraged if you have a lapse. Forgive yourself and then get back on track. Those that have already tried before are more successful the next time. Good luck!

The new e cigarettes are a miracle. I know so many people that have tried and failed at the other solutions including doctors help. The E cig is working/ has worked for all of them.

Yes e-cigs are great! I am using them now and so far so good 6 weeks on. Had a few relapses but I don't believe I will ever go back to full time smoking!

The E-cigs may, in fact, be more dangerous to health than regular cigarettes. You can google reports from Mayo and others which point out heavy concentrations of heavy metal...particularly tin and copper. Also, don't think they are oderless....they still stink.
I'm one of those obnoxious former smokers (2 packs a day) who decided to quit, and did it "cold turkey" 23 years ago. I got tired of burning holes in my Garcia ties, and smelling like an ash tray. I also value my freedom, and resented anything that compromised that freedom by making me dependent. I've never understood why sucking noxious fumes into my lungs was "pleasurable". In retrospect, it wasn't. Wanna quit? Very simple....don't try to taper off, forget the nicotine patches and the e-cigs. They are just a crutch. Throw away your stash, right now, and DON'T BUY ANY MORE! Hopefully, you will also have enough self respect not to bum from your friends. This filthy habit is all in your head. You can stop NOW if you really want to. If I could do it 23 years ago, ANYBODY can. |

I would say, there is no competition in quitting smoking. Quit however you like, whatever way works best for you. Whether that's patches, gum, ecigs or reading the Allen Carr book (its what I used and would highly recommend it). The end result is what matters.

Marijuana is NOT a miracle drug.
Cocaine and opium was THE miracle drug of the day. It was used in almost every medicinal product as well as food products such as Coca-Cola. Whatever ailed you, cocaine and opium was the remedy, and we all know how that turned out. It's ignorant to pretend that marijuana is some magical drug that only does good. I talked with some stoner friends about how badly it affects me, getting panic attacks, hallucinations, extreme paranoia, and they basically told me, "yeah, that's what marijuana does, but just keep smoking it because eventually the side effects will go away." Why the heck would I want to suffer through that just to get a good high? |

Now for cigarettes. We all know what cigs do for you, and it is a personal choice to choose to quit.
One of my friends smoked for years and years and he recently quit using the ecig. I like to smoke it because it tastes good. |

Everything will kill you.
But I choose ecig because I can now breathe.when I could not smoking regular cigs. The smell of cigarette smoke makes me nauseaus now. For me....Ecig still addicted.to nicotine but not all the other chemicals in tobacco now. ![]() Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2 |

The obvious... stop. Everyone who smokes doesn't get cancer. Everyone who smokes does get COPD... in the form of emphysema, chronic bronchitis, etc.
Your skin will age sooner. Significantly. |

That I can understand where the ones who enjoy the whole inhaling of smoke are coming from. I have tried e-cigs and well its just not the same as taking a puff of a real cigarette.
That said I've reduced my amount of smoking...I might have up to 5 cigarettes in a day, and much of the time I will go without having any throughout the day and lately I've been feeling like I can take them or leave them. Though for a while before when I was 'trying' to quit I kept craving the nicotine. Seems like if I remain indifferent about it then I smoke much less and can go without pretty easy, but if I am pressuring myself to 'quit' it actually makes me want to smoke more. |

The only advice I can give to a smoker is this:
If you care about your life, and if you have people who care about you, then QUIT. I've seen what COPD does to someone I love. I would never want it on anyone, and I'd sooner dive off a bridge than put my family through having to watch me die like that. Sorry if this is harsh, but the longer you put it off, the more harm you're doing to everyone around you, not just yourself. |

Dig a little and you might be surprised at what cannabis is capable of. Not to mention what growing hemp could do for our society and planet as a whole ![]() What your friends say isnt entirely true. There is a difference in strains and what they do to "most" people. Indica vs sativa. I am far from an expert so I dont recall which causes which but there is a distinct difference on how you respond to each strain. I smoke. It has helped me more than any med, but each experience is very individual. Now when it comes to smoking cigs I think its a horrible habit that can be extremely hard to quit. I smoked for about 11 years. I have quit several times. Couple times quitting was nothing. This last time was horrible and i couldnt and still dont fully understand why. I tried e cigs but I still had a hard time so i asked my doc during my annual what he could give me. He sent me on my way with Wellbutrin. Quit within 3 weeks. That was oct 2013 and im still quit ![]() If you smoke and you want to quit keep trying! Use different tools and methods if you need to! Now that my husband and I use the e-cig, we notice the smell of cigarette smoke everywhere we go. It kind of makes me feel sick to smell it now, which I'm very surprised.
I can't believe we smelled like that at one time. I'm not bashing anyone that still smoke because I know how it is but I'm just giving you my personal revelation. With that said, I really, really miss cigarette smoking. But I don't think I could ever go back to it. ![]() Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2 |
