he lives next door and his owners don't feed or water him. he was skin and bones when i moved in in July. he was stolen by a gang, from this woman's brother, and acid was poured all the way down his back.

i have rubbed vaseline, through the fence, on the scars and they don't itch as much and hair is slowly covering them.

i put hay in his house for winter time and just generally love him a lot. he isn't safe with cats, so any thoughts my family has had of "stealing" him has been for naught.

he's unneutered.....they have a young male and female in the front yard, on chains, and an english bulldog female.(which they let fight one another for "sport and entertainment for the children) (NONE are fixed) the little obnoxious child that lives over there told me they are going to raise "puppies" to sell.........eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

there is no city ordinance for a limit on how many dogs you can have and no regulations for chaining and shelter.....and nothing about backyard breeders......

but, i am working with the head of the shelter to change all of that. we go before the city council February 6th.

i ordered a ton of PETA material (for 3.00) to give out in front of stores against chaining.......robert calls me "Lockhart's New Game Warden"........ ~*~*Butch*~*~ ~*~*Butch*~*~

i'm sure you can tell from his eyes that he is so sweet. he grins and grins at me. pitbulls can really grin when they are happy.

I see "Help Me" in his eyes.....He's a beautiful pit. Thank you for taking care of him as you have. You will have a friend forever for what you have done....God how it must make you so mad to see how he and the others are treated. So glad you are there to help them!

grrrrr! is right! It's people like that who should be required to have a license to have a pet at all. even a goldfish! I just hate to see dogs chained. I see no point in having them if not to just love and play with them. So sad for Butch and for the owners too, that they aren't enjoying that kind of relationship.

You have been so kind to Butch. How lucky for him that you moved in next door!

I wish you great success with your efforts to have city ordinances added to protect animal rights. Good for you for speaking up and out!

thats one nice looking dog, you can see the sadness in his eyes though, he needs a loving home and to be unshackled, good for you in looking after him, it looks like he needs a friend, and has found one in you.

thanks, guys.

i learned ALOT about PR when i worked for Willie ( ~*~*Butch*~*~) and then when i lived in NM,i got even better. so i've taken this as my special project and Lockhart dogs will be unchained!! you can take that to the bank. it make take us awhile because the culture here is to chain all of your pitbulls.

there's also an unusual amount of Chows here.

my police friend told me that he found 13 pits on chains at a crack house.

the owners will be out in force at all of the meetings but if you don't have a yard....then you don't need a dog.....i'm totally rigid on that. unless you're willing to keep it inside and walk it.

Austin is working on the same thing now and getting grants to help people build yards/kennels....so, i'm going for that also. i'm meeting with an Austin City Council member next month.

there's nothing more powerful than a mad animal lover on 40mg of Prozac a day. ~*~*Butch*~*~

Butchie is such a friend. i feed him boiled eggs so that there is no sign, now, of my feeding him. he didn't know what to do with the first one...... ~*~*Butch*~*~ ~*~*Butch*~*~

if i totally wanted to break the law, i'd kidnap him, have him neutered and bring him back and slip him into the yard...... ~*~*Butch*~*~my vet said she would do it free. but that's even more than i'm willing to try. what was the chemical that the soldiers were given in their food????? ~*~*Butch*~*~

Well, I agree that pit bulls require special consideration, but not chaining! 6ft high fences or inside, yes. Actually, the county south of me has banned them, and the county I am in is considering it. This isn't the dog's fault, but that so many ppl here are abusing and using them as guard dogs and not training them to be nice to nice ppl and we've had many deaths and maulings because of it ~*~*Butch*~*~

I think you would be a nice neighbor. If you feed dogs, you'd feed me when I needed it! ~*~*Butch*~*~

Do the owners really even want thir dogs? Besides getting them to fight for human entertainment. It would be really hard because they automaticaly euthanize pit bulls here. but do what you heart tells you, and know yo have done your besr

Oh Pat.... Butch and every other animal that comes into your life is so very lucky to have you.

You are a great hero--~*~*Butch*~*~ ~*~*Butch*~*~ ~*~*Butch*~*~ you're speaking for those that can't. That is so wonderful.

You know, all my life I've believed that animals are angel spies-- (I'm not religious.. but this has always been something I believe)-- I used to call my "babygirl"(my dog of 15 years, I just put down new years eve) -- My angel. Animals are one of the many gauges that measure the level of a person's kind heart. When one is kind to animals I believe one is given a higher rating than those that abuse or think of animals as non-feeling objects-- and then those like you that go even further by protecting all animals-- such people are given the hightest level of a kind heart.

You are at the top! ~*~*Butch*~*~ ~*~*Butch*~*~ ~*~*Butch*~*~

thank you, mandyfins.......very much.

i'll agree, soundly, with all that these two people should not have dogs or children. ~*~*Butch*~*~

one of my client's husband sends Butch little treats. he freezes leftovers and keeps them for me to give B. people like him help me keep going.

from our big "friends" Thanksgiving dinner, there were three packages of leftover scraps (weighed over 10 lbs) for Butch. i doled them out over the days.....some people "get" it...... ~*~*Butch*~*~i don't really feed mine "leftovers" but i think it helps Butch to know that he can get "human" food...if not human contact like he should. ~*~*Butch*~*~

i believe in animal angels. i've had several. sometimes i sense them around me......... ~*~*Butch*~*~

I started crying when I saw this picture. I'm sure you will understand why!

i understand, Sabrina.

But.....see the shine on his coat and how bright his eyes are. and you can tell that he is a good weight now. he had none of that when i moved in. i could count his ribs, his coat was dull and he didn't have the shiny, loving eyes.

since July, he's had a best friend and companion...even if it is through the fence. sometimes i go in, when they aren't home.

and the teenager took him for a walk on Saturday. his first walk since i moved in. it took two to control him but at least he got out for a few minutes......

and i got extra glares from the woman on Sunday while i was outside..... ~*~*Butch*~*~ like i care...... ~*~*Butch*~*~
