today i got to see Butch!!!! he heard my truck even before i turned into the shelter and started barking. the control officer let him out and we played for about 45 minutes. we've never gotten to play before. he went wild. he was running and grinning and rolling and flirting and just going nuts.....

AND my understanding had been that the witch's brother had given Butch to her......NOT SO....the brother came from out of town when he was notified about Butch (somehow control officer found out some more facts) and he is going to be at the hearing to claim Butch back. the control officer checked the references that she had asked him for and he checked out perfectly. veterinarian, etc.

seems that Butch had "moved" without his owner's permission because this idiot next door had said he wanted to fight dogs.......and since they don't communicate....he didn't know Butch was here. this explains his being in the BACK yard and chained up.....the control officer said Butch went ballistic when he saw the man and the man sobbed and sobbed, holding Butch....

so, now we all go to court and testify as to what we saw, heard and did and the judge WILL give Butch back to his owner. testifying for Butch will be myself, my daughter, my friend, three animal control officers and one veterinarian. the second veterinarian confirmed that Butch had been fought. i believe that the first veterinarian was unethical and wanted to keep them as clients......and the way they treat the dogs means she thinks she's be seeing them a lot.....NOT.

and today the three year old daughter of the witch came walking by my yard and told me what her mother calls me. and died laughing. this may be the most dysfunctional bunch that i've ever seen. and "bleeping gringa" was the nicest thing that she said. BUTCH news!!!!

i cannot articulate how happy i am for Butch.

they seized all four dogs and they may get one back. the younger male pitbull...and he barks nonstop. but this time around, i'll just call the cops every time he barks and they will be fined. the control officer, with a big laugh, said she bets they move in April "cause who would want you for a neighbor when they are abusing dogs?" BUTCH news!!!!

I don't remember the background on this. But, animal abusers are rather low in my book. I'm glad that it turned out that Butch's owner wasn't the bad guy. I'm also glad that you have taken the time and effort to help with such an important cause. Keep caring.

I'm so happy for Butch. I hope the owner is on the level about this: we are talking about his sister, after all.

the brother has been checked out thoroughly. we have a rocking shelter here!!! they did an official background check on him, no criminal records at all.......called two veterinarians that he's used.....called the groomer that he took Butch to.

this woman is seriously ill, as in character defect ill. not only does she have that pitiful three year old, there is a 6 year old boy that was suspended from riding the school bus for flipping people off. and it was her 13 year stepdaughter that she refused to buy pads for..for school the next day and i went and bought them.....so, i know how those kids are suffering.

the cops really "want" her to step over the line.....Caldwell county has a "neighbor" law and you automatically spend the night in jail if you step on your neighbor's property during any kind of "incident"........she's been notified of that. i had heavier patrol last night than usual.

last night i found out that their bedroom is in direct sight of my kitchen window......curtains go up today. i had no idea their bedroom was on that corner of the house. it's a small window and i have a huge folk art cat standing in it.....but..........

i obtained a digital picture yesterday of physical abuse of the three year old. so you know what that means for her......my fingers will be doing the walking..........

i know this should probably go into another forum, but do you think it's possible for me to have a mild form of PTSD over this. i keep waking up and i hear Butch screaming in pain and it happens about every hour during the night. of could it just be "secondary stress" or something? it's pretty scary.

i've internalized the pain and terror that i know he went through at that "fight" and only talked about it yesterday to my friends. and in my years, i've seen some pretty bad dog fights and it always really affects me for days.

the shelter officers demonstrated his lack of aggressiveness towards other dogs while i was out there. he loves other pitbulls.....just like he loved my dogs.

you have no idea how it helps to be able to talk to animal lovers about this. i really haven't made enough friends here to share all of it with. xoxoxo pat

Hey Pat,

This is such good news!! It's about time Butch got a break and I'm so happy for him.

I think this kind of thing can trigger all sorts of stuff. My abandonment/rescue issues for sure. So, I don't see why it couldn't create some PTSD especially because it isn't over til it's over, and there is still a bit of a ways to go.

If Butch could sing, he would be singing a joyful song! As I'm sure there is a joyful song playing in his heart now.

Please keep us posted on how you are doing. i worry about ya out there with those unstable neighbors.

oh fayerody. this news has really given me a warm, squishy feeling inside. BUTCH news!!!! i can be such a pessimist i must say i was worried about what would happen to him after he was taken from those ... i lack a word right now. it just seems like a fairy tale to find out he has a real owner who loves him. you just played the white knight in shining armour to a very sad little doggie hon! you are a very very special person. it really takes courage and a big heart to keep fighting for him as you have done despite all the difficulties it has caused you.
i hope that something can be done too about the children but you have already done something very precious.

BUTCH news!!!! BUTCH news!!!! BUTCH news!!!! BUTCH news!!!! BUTCH news!!!! BUTCH news!!!! BUTCH news!!!!

boy..............i was on the witness stand two hours yesterday.........and the neighbor got to cross examine me.........

the city attorney was fantastic and the judge was great.....they lost all four dogs. piggy, the english bulldog, already has a new home. they surrended her without the fight. Butch was neutered and his original owner got really upset over that, so that made us very nervous about him.....after all............

the other two will not be adopted out as they are very, very aggressive.

i came home and had a major meltdown at my good neighbor's house. and i have 24/7 police protection for two weeks and if we're still having problems, it will be renewed. i refuse to cave. i just come and go and wave at the officers and go on......she stood out and stared at me earlier when i watered my vegetable garden. the man was so mad yesterday, after the hearing, that we all had to stay in the courtroom til he drove off. he got a huge fine and now has been convicted of cruelty and abuse and dog fighting.

i'm sure they will move in April. who would want to live next to me if they are going to abuse dogs?????? BUTCH news!!!!
