can any of you ladies recommend a decent brand name of clear fibreglass repair resin for fingers or toenails? I need it for my modelling kits to cosmetically alter the shape of me cars exterior and to build parts I need to fit new additions like,

I am converting a 1969 Yenko Camaro 1 / 25 size kit car, with twin auto focus web cams with motion detectors for headlights, a built in mini mp3 player with speakers, (speakers from my old mobile phones) custom interior and custom paintwork/ graphics,

I could buy normal fibreglass resin but it is to thick and wouldn’t work to well so any suggestions would be appreciated.

What is it with women in the manicurist / nail shops that turns them into men haters the minute a man walks threw the door?
I went into 6 yes 6 different manicurists in Kilburn today to try and buy a bottle of fibreglass repair resin for nails the looks I got would floor any normal man, I would put it akin to going into the shop, using the women’s toilet, and leaving the seat up on my way out, the way I was treated, they all sell "product" to the public but not 1 shop had any in stock, or so they said, they did not even bother looking when i told them what it was for, looks like I am going to have to troll threw ebay to find some.

Nail techs are so secretive about what they use for some reason....I know exactly what you mean.

Could you try a beauty supply-type store?

I used to get acrylic nails and know they also do silk wraps, they sell this stuff for people to do themselves in beauty supply store. (sometimes you need a beautician's license though, but they m,ay be willing to help answer your questions.)

I personally only use nail laquer and very much prefer the line of OPI products.

Hope this helps mellors!

i tryed the major department stores also, they dont stock it with it being a "specialised" product, i have found a few full set, part used, manicure kits on ebay that i am going to bid on that will do for now,

whilst i am waiting for the resin to set i might even give myself a manicure, it will beat chewing them i suppose lol

thanks for your help talulah i will check out the brand name, i am going to need to buy it in bulk has i have:

A 67 mustang,
a 69 yenko camero,
and a 70’s mustang boss 429 to date,
and am bidding on:
a Shelby gt350 fastback,
69 Plymouth barracuda,
1970’s dodge charger,
Nissan skyline r32
and a Nissan skyline r34 gtr
all in kit form so I can modify them to my hearts content

i am in mad manic mode again so i need to keep busy, this little jaunt should do it for a while

i have an idea to resell them back on ebay has specialised webcams when they are complete so its not going to be a waste of money

Mellors, I don't know what drug stores are like in England, but here, you can go to any drug store and they'll have the acrylic powder and developer in kits. It will be in their cosmetic department.

sept its not acrylic, its fibreglass, i can go into any hardware store and buy the industrial version thats used on real cars, it comes in 2 parts, liquid resin and liquid fixer, but get the mix ratio wrong and it will just eat the plastic, the smallest industrial amount i can buy is 1/2 litre of resin and it only needs 25ml of fixer for the entire lot, in the amounts i will be using at any one time, even a superfine paintbrush dipped in fixer would be to much for the amount needed, we are talking about the size of a mung bean size portion at a time, with the fingernail version the fixer is already mixed in so i dont have to worry about that.

sky i like chewing my nails, it is getting harder to chew my toenails nowadays though lol

acrylic resin is readilly available also but i wont be able to spray paint the shells of the cars has the paint wont stick properly, i have tryed it before and customising the shells is a major part of the job, it looks rubbish with pot paints, they need to look has profesional has possible for any chance for me to resell them

i dont need it for my toe nails pilatus, i chew them to keep them in check,

i need the fibreglass resin used to repair nails to make custom body kits for airfix model cars, the industrial version is too thick and is imposible to mix with hardener in such small quantities, the nail version is already premixed with hardener so all i have to is point and squirt, behave lol, to get the desired effect.
