My first phone, a green dial up Ma bell dinosaur.
My first and only cell phone, some kind of flip phone I had to have for work.
I hate phones

I used to just get the cheapest one I could because I hate phones. Around this time last year I got a Samsung S4 Mini as my first smartphone.

It is a bit small for anything on the web. But I wanted something that seemed portable.

Apps are crappy... Making money off kids...

I thought it would be a great work device / schedule organizer etc. But honestly, it isn't so very terrific. I do better with pen and paper, still.

The Samsung stuff that can't be gotten rid of... Wants to update fairly constantly. I guess the idea is to junk it up and make it run slower so I think I need a new device.

I'm very aware that everything I do on it (every photo I take, every movie I make, every email I send, every password I enter in, every webpage I visit) is stored indefinitely on the clouds somewhere... Not that anybody cares overly much what I'm up to. But if someone decided to care... If I became politically controversial, or whatever, that stuff is there, forever, to bite me...

I'm amazed at how governments have gotten us to pay large sums of money in order to purchase our own surveillance device. How we voluntarily carry these around with us at all times. How our movements (within a meter or so, I believe) are being continually tracked... Stored in the clouds, forever...

How it is that they have persuaded us to fall for this. To not be protesting in any way that it is very nearly (but not quite) obligatory for functioning in chunks of the developed world...
