When I leave work I see "murmuration" often and wonder(ed_ why they do this:

They say, "We think that starlings do it for many reasons. Grouping together offers safety in numbers – predators such as peregrine falcons find it hard to target one bird in the middle of a hypnotising flock of thousands.

They also gather to keep warm at night and to exchange information, such as good feeding areas.

They gather over their roosting site, and perform their wheeling stunts before they roost for the night." from The RSPB: Starling: Flocks

Connections, I live in the 'burbs of a large city. We have a lot of sparrows and other small birds here. I feed them year round. We have no bushes in our yard, but across the street there are some largish bushes. The sparrows nest under my porch but when there is a hawk around they go to the bushes because the hawk can't reach them inside the bush. The hawk can't reach them under the porch either but I think going to the bush is an instinct. Very cool to watch them.

I saw footage today of a whirlpool that sucked everything down into it, dirt/greenery, big ice pieces, and all kinds of stuff. I wonder where all that goes? here it is:

There are vast caverns, waterways and caves under the earth we walk on. Not to mention volcanic changes going on under there.

I ate ice cream at Baskin Robbins today and they had 42 flavored. I wondered "why is there 42 flavors when the name is 31 flavors? The they told me "The founders wanted one flavor for every day of the month."
Thanks for this!

I wonder why some countries use door knobs because door handles are so much easier to use.

I wonder when we use the "Madam" or "ma'am" when talking to a female? I wonder if they are the same thing? I wonder if we use Madam any more or if that is only for places of ill repute? I wonder if they are used for the woman of the house, the higher status or if is it is regional?

I wonder if I could stitch my brain together with another person's brain, if we would become the same "soul".

I wonder if I come off as a good mom to other moms or as "one of those weird ones..."

I wonder what the deepest point in the ocean is and how deep it actually goes. I wonder how many pounds of pressure is at that depth?

They are not the same. "Madame" has a very negative conotation in this part of the world. I use "Ma'am" for any woman older than me.

What I am wondering? Is how my friend's ex is allowed to drag out a divorce proceeding (they have no counsel to boot) for what is now 2 years.

Thank you for your thoughts on that rcaf.
======

About 71 percent of the Earth's surface is covered with water. That makes me wonder some silly things. I wonder how many gallons of water is on the earth.

One estimate of global water distribution (Percents are rounded, so will not add to 100)
Water source: Water volume, in cubic miles - Percent of total water
Oceans, Seas, & Bays 321,000,000 -96.54
Ice caps, Glaciers, & Permanent Snow 5,773,000 68.7 -1.74
Groundwater 5,614,000 -1.69
Fresh 2,526,000 -0.76
Saline 3,088,000 -0.93
Soil Moisture 3,959 -0.001
Ground Ice & Permafrost 71,970 -0.022
Lakes 42,320 -0.013
Fresh 21,830 -0.007
Saline 20,490 -0.006
Atmosphere 3,095 -0.001
Swamp Water 2,752 -0.0008
Rivers 509 2,120 -0.0002
Biological Water 269 -0.0001
Source: Igor Shiklomanov's chapter "World fresh water resources" in Peter H. Gleick (editor), 1993, Water in Crisis: A Guide to the World's Fresh Water Resources (Oxford University Press, New York).

How many gallons are on the earth?

There are many places that have limited water so I was wondering if we were to figure out how to use the existing water on the planet such as warming up the salt water so it evaporates more quickly, condenses into clouds and we were able to create fresh rain water to help dry areas and create more drinking water, I wonder if that would make the ecosystem better or worse?

I wonder what would come of all that speculation on humanity if it was done?
Thanks for this!

I just read that the Earth weighs 13,170,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 pounds.

I wonder what the scale weighs?
Thanks for this!

I wonder....where the heck our future as a species is going every single time I read or watch the news.

I truly wonder how much longer we as a race will be on this earth at the rate we are going. Something HAS to give in the near future. What that is? Only time will tell.
