My cat is very stubborn. I think he may get that from me. My cat and I are having a disagreement For the past week, he has determined to sleep on the footstool in front of my chair. The only problem with that location is that I put my laptop on that chair whenever I'm taking a break from the computer. It's the only place I can put it. So, every 30 minutes or so, I have to push him off the footstool so I can put my laptop down. He yowls and paces and yowls some more... Then when I pick my laptop up, he gets back on the footstool. I need to go get a drink and take a bathroom break, but I don't want to start another disagreement with him. There are so many other places where he could sleep, but he is DETERMINED that the footstool is his new evening sleeping place. My cat and I are having a disagreement Maybe I should buy another footstool?

Anyone else have a stubborn cat?

Hi Juliana,

I have a black cat, Little Bear, who is probably around 20 years old now. We have a long history, that started in the parking lot of my Fortune 500 employer in Florida.

Anyway he is grieving one of our other cats, Snuggles, who was hit by a car last year. Little Bear adopted Snuggles when Snuggles appeared on our porch one Christmas Day. Snuggles adored Little Bear, and vice versa.

Little Bear insists on lying on the right side of my desk, right where he can rub his nose on my hand when I grab my computer mouse to work!!

If I don't pay attention to him, he parades in front of the computer screen, and sits right in front of it looking at me.

Keep your stories coming. You're a natural story teller.

Hugs,

EJ

EJ, Little Bear sounds so adorable. Cats are just so determined to get our love -- on their own terms, aren't they? Hank sometimes gets on the arm of my chair and tries to climb into my lap -- while the laptop is here. I push him away and then he rubs his face against the screen. Tonight, it's all about the footstool. I had to push him off again a few minutes ago, so now he's having a tantrum at the window -- determined he's going to go outside even though he knows I don't put him out late at night.

My condolences on the loss of Snuggles. My cat and I are having a disagreement

One of my cats, we like to call her devil cat. "as she is"
We got her in April many years ago. It was after our other cat passed of old age. Any ways, i told the kids "peewee"
"The old cats name" You can have a new cat when "peewee: sends you one.
Well low and behold in April came this cat to our door. Now named April or "devil cat" She rules the house. Well really only upstairs , as she is mean and will attack us and the other animals.
She is the most stubborn cat I think in the world! Sleeps where she wants , no one can touch her or move her. But take her to the vets and she rubs up against him and loves him! We take her home and back to devil cat! LOL

My cat is so finicky about his food. There will be food covering the bottom of his dish but he still walks around yowling like he's starving. He's always trying to get in my lap when I'm at the desk, even when I'm crocheting. I loose my patience often with my cat, but I love him. He's 17. I don't think I could ever have kids, with the way I yell at my cat. My cat and I are having a disagreement

Tin foil on the footstool or something not so "comfy"? Books? :-)

My cat jumps up on the other end of the dining table here and walks across my baracade of books to the papers/books/work area here next to my computer and does his lie down so his tail is across the keyboard :-) I use to have to pick him up and "dump" him unceremoneously onto the floor several times before he'd give up. He's not stubborn so much as not very bright I fear :-)

I don't have a cat as the landlord won't allow it so I share my mom's cats. She has 2 Mollye and Chessie. Mollye is the little clown we think. She is part maine coon and part who knows what if you look at her you think she's this big fat cat but when you pick her up she's all fur. This afternoon when I was taking my nap she was walking up and down me as I was laying on my side....I guess she thought I was a tightrope. She then got down and forced me to pet her...she'd bump her head against my hand and if I put my hand under the covers she'd put her tail over my face. I told her if she kept doing that she was gonna get a flying lesson. She finally gave up and laid down by my legs.

Chessie is just plain psycho. One minute she's nice and purring and the next watch out she's gonna bite. This morning when I got here she was laying on the chair by the window and I went over there to pet her and she was acting like she wanted to be petted but when I put my hand on her back she tried to bite me. I guess she wanted to be left alone.

our 3 year old black cat... midnight... does a couple of things to show the world she is the smartest and fairest of them all. Adding to everyone else's stories about competing with our computer time.... my cat will parade back and forth in front of my screen to get me to open the window next to me so that she can jump onto the sill to either look around or jump down to be outside. If I don't comply right away she will often put her butt right in my face until I do what she wants. Or she will sprawl herself right on top of my arms between me and the keyboard. She's also been know to knock my wireless mouse right off my desk to make her point.

A couple of months ago we adopted a puppy. For the first while the cat hide away. She would only come out when the dog was put away for a nap or for the night. She had an uncanny sense of knowing when the puppy was locked away and out of reach of her. Over time they have become playmates and they can be quite entertaining to watch.

I've taken great pains to train the puppy to stay out of my garden areas. The cat is allowed cuz she is very delicate around the plants and never causes any harm. But the puppy is a whole different story. So he is not allowed in the garden. And the cat knows it. She will run him around the yard... taking turns chasing and being chased and when she's ready to call it quits she jumps up onto a flower bed and perches there while the puppy whines in protest. If he tries to jump up either I command him down or the cat gives him a swip to keep him down. The cat seems to get great pleasure rubbing it is his face that she is privileged while he is not. She'll prance around in the garden. Hide under some of the grasses and then pounce on him when she's ready for some more play.

I'm a cat person. I love the puppy but when push comes to shove... I'm a cat person.

Hope you enjoyed my stories.... thanks julianna for this fun thread!!!
