Okay I am officially done. I should have known by that Thanksgiving storm that the snow gods would show no mercy on us this year.
Okay, we had 3 feet of snow and everyone was well prepared for it. Most towns did a great job with snow removal. No problem. A week later I got 1.5 feet. I was prepared for only 1 foot. The snow removal folk did not do such a great job this time. I spun around and around on my country back road and got hit by a snow bank. ![]() Today I was promised "only 4 inches". That is so funny. They lied. My therapist almost canceled our appointment, but after talking to me, she found the motivation to try and make it to work. The roads turned out to be worse than I thought. I am grateful she attempted to go to work. The only good thing I can say is that because that snow bank hit me the other day, I was much more cautious when driving today. I have lived in New England my whole life. I have never and will never let snow stop me. I even had fun playing in my driveway trying to get out. Yes, I have a 4 wheel drive SUV and I still got stuck. The fun part was trying to get unstuck. I was in WalMart the other day. They are ready. All of there Christmas crap is gone. They have replaced it all with many many gas grills and bird food. It made me smile. There is hope, prepare for spring. Vent!!!! You know you want to!!!! ![]() |

Even though I haven't gone out I'm so tired of this winter. I think this has been the longest and harshest one in a very long time for me. All the wind is blowing in and I've been too cold for weeks (maybe the past 3 months).

I wish you could send some of that snow down to KY.....we have had wimpy snow's all winter. Thought we were going to have a good snowy winter when it snowed Oct 31 for Halloween, but alas......the persimmon seeds were wrong for those of us here in KY.
Oh how I can relate to enjoying playing around in the driveway with my 4x4 Hemi 1500 truck when it snows, Ices, or even just MUDS ...my truck loves to slide in the mud. We have had cold weather but we just get the stupid powder sugar snow that doesn't even amount to anything more than a dusting......just one good dump & the weather.com doesn't show any snow in our future. In my younger married days, I loved vacationing in Jackson Hole Wyoming (from California home)....I loved slow that was plowed higher than my Jeep Cherokee SUV....loved watching the critters bounding around in the snow & making a dive for their dinner.....& of course, skiing downhill, x-country & snow shoeing. I still love hiking back into my woods after we have had some snow.....there is nothing like it....but like with everything....moderation is the best. Enjoy it as best you can.....spring will be here soon followed by the HOT summer & then we will have the bad things to say about that also.....only serious negative in the winter is the high heating bill even when I'm trying to be careful & conservative with my heating....I like to be comfortable.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() LOL Ha Ha Ha!! Eskie, I really need to thank you a million times for actually making me smile when my life is falling down as I write. Leave that as it's my Dad's failing physical and mental health that's causing so much stress, he's gone back into hospital tonight. OK, so why did I smile huh? 'Cos, the way you described your young married life, despite what's turned out, as with us all, there were good times ~~ in that most awesome beautiful place called Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Whilst I was there in spring, your description easily made me picture the place in the midst of crisp white wonderland!! You, whizzing around in the snow, which you wanted to transform to MUD!! My gosh, I can absolutely and utterly assure you, if you had to endure the glorious MUD in England's sodden lands, you'd honestly think different!! Like you I kept up to three horses for 25 years and every winter (8 months ish) the overgrazed paddocks were a quagmire. The MUD was so very thick and sticky I lost many many wellies (wellingtons) which were literally sucked away in the said thick MUD. The new Zealand outdoor rugs were caked in the stuff and never dried by next morning, so I had three for each horse. They were stabled at night. I clipped out in winter and I never had one problem due to clipping the coats away, easier to hard brush the mud from sensitive skinned horses. We've just had a couple of snow falls, it settled well and because I drive my brother to the railway station at 5.30am every morning, I'm the first car out of our Cul~De~Sac. It's so so magical driving over the first heavy snowfall, though I'm nervous in my little car!! Coming home I see foxes everywhere and sometimes badgers!! I can't abide cold, can't function, get depressed, moan and generally go around the house with a hot water bottle strapped to my tummy!!! Something to do with being very underweight and not allowed to have heating on in the daytime, only at night, Dad's always too hot but isn't understanding at all about my freezing body, hay~hoe. Anyways hunny, I will send you as much of the pure white stuff when I've collected enough!! ![]() |

My husband is a wannabe meteorologist. If I want to know what the weather has in store for me, I just need to ask. Yesterday I asked if it was going to snow on Sunday. I did not need to hear his reply. “It is going to snow Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. " Can too much snow ever be too much snow?
I did get to play in the snow again. I needed to make a parking space at my Doctor’s office. I barreled thru the poorly plowed side of the street and had some fun with it. I got to do this 2 days in a row. Sometimes, even though I hate it, snow can be fun. Even for the adult me. After that Blizzard of 2015 and the nice job done on the roads, the plow people have been lacking in their effort to remove snow. Walmart really needs to work a bit harder. Their parking lot is half the size it was a month ago. Today was tough. It hasn’t started snowing yet, but it will. Today I shoveled though 7 feet of densely packed heavy snow. For those of you who have never had to do this, can I be your neighbor? At one point, I shoveled so vigorously that my pants fell down. I took numerous breaks to breathe and used that 7 feet of snow to rest against. PlowBoy did a nice job taking care of my driveway. The only problem I encountered was that all the snow from the driveway was pushed toward my house. OilDude is coming soon. His access to my house was blocked. Some people never think to shovel for OilDude or propane guy, but I do. My effort is worth it because I know in my heart that OilDude will be grateful for the path I have dug. So, I continue to vent. Venting helps. I can get my thoughts and feelings out and maybe see things in a different way. Snow is bad. More snow is worse. If I take some time and really think about it, I can find the brighter side of snow. So, Bring it on snow gods. I am ready. ![]() |

MUD only in my front yard (right in front of my house). I drive my truck up to the front door. Snow & ice melts & my huge tires just tear up what grass is left & I get to slide around & spin my wheels until I remember to put it in 4x4. I actually have a circular gravel driveway on the side of the house. Managed to back up too far trying to turn around the other day & went down off the driveway just a little. Didn't realize I had done that to start with until I put it in drive to go forward & the tires just spun......put it in 4x4 & was fine. The red mud in Sedona Arizona after it snowed the time we were there was a fun challenge to drive in also....My jeep found a fire road it wanted to take (just for fun). Mud was so thick it stuck to the tires I poor jeep started sliding down the road once I finally got turned around. I call it entertainment.....others have another name for it.

Eskie, will be happy to send some of this your way; way plenty to share and more to come.
![]() Waggiedog, hope your Dad is doing better. ![]() In getting our annual amount of snow within less than two weeks, let alone what came before that, and more to come in the next four days, I am more than tired of it as it has become overwhelming, bundling up, digging, and snow blowing, never ending. Besides being sore too, I have no place left to go with it. You may not hear from me soon because will be buried in it. ![]() I have to get to work too even on days they declare an emergency due to working at the hospital; I worry about being out in it and (hate is strong word I don't use lightly but) I hate the below freezing temps. More so I really hate not being able to help my folks who are unable to dig themselves out when it comes during the day, if it comes instead while I am at work. It has been so hard on everyone, it is time for it to stop. I am sure the winter sporters are loving this though. At least someone is enjoying it. ![]() The only bright spot here is watching the critters; they love, love, love the mounds to run and jump into them along the edge of the drive and the road, until they bury themselves on the other side and have to go rescue them. Bless their hearts not understanding how really deep it is right now, well over their heads and up to my chest where there are no mounds. Fortunately they are getting better about it. I can't even begin to think what a heck of a mud season it is going to be when all this melts. I just pray there won't be flooding. Stay safe and warm meanwhile everyone. ![]()

I don't know about nice job on blizzard snow. Just too much snow to place safely anywhere. We had 6 inches before the blizzard. 32+" in the blizzard, then another few inches that Thursday/Friday post blizzard, then more snow Monday into Tuesday then more snow late week, again last night into this morning, tonight into Tuesday, more snow predicted later this week and early next......

Great song.....LOL.
I remember when we first went to Jackson Hole Wyoming in January & Feb for skiing at our condo, there were places where they actually had snow up to the roof & would dig out a walk way to the door with snow so high over our head. That was how it was out in the country also. They would plow the road, but the whole fields were higher than the top of our Jeep Cherokee with snow. Thankfully no avalanches when we were there. Fascinating watching avalanche control when we were skiing in Canada though. Glad I was watching from the lodge & not from the mountain but heard that had been dangerous one year, the avalanche ended up coming all the way down to the lodge & caused some damage.....never know what that snow is going to do at times.

![]() I took a moment to get it together. ![]() If I take it 1 shovel full at a time and do not allow myself to become too overwhelmed, there is hope that I can make a new path for OilDude. ![]() again listen....it is way too perfect....Thank you WROR you always come through for me when I need you to ![]() |

I just left a message on my oil company's web site....
![]() "Okay, it is not as wide or as perfect as the original path, but it is there. A path from my driveway to the oil fill pipe. You will be able to deliver more oil to me. YAHOO!!!! I know in my heart that my efforts will be appreciated. Just so you know, my husband thought of you before I saw your reminder." ![]() Knowing it would be appreciated helped motivate me to keep shoveling. I lost my balance and slid down the snow bank twice, but that is okay. I used that time to lay in my driveway and rest. ![]() It is official though.... I have lost my sense of humor!!!! ![]() Last edited by Anonymous100163; Feb 10, 2015 at 10:44 AM. Reason: had to fix my spelling of companies/company's |

I hear the janitor and landlord shoveling outside numerous times a day. I sure hope it will stop soon and the wind shifts. Coldest winter in 10 years.
