That made me laugh. When I think back to some of the types of shoes I wore in my teens and twenties, it amazes me to remember that I could not only walk in them but could run in most of them.

These were the shoes that all the girls wore when I was in high school with skin tight skinny-legged jeans.(OMG, they're just two blocks of wood with straps!)

Jo you (yes You) and many more like you that wore these "Candies" throughout my High School years have been both my Blessing & Curse! Lol! If it were possible to count ALL the Hours I missed from actually listening to what the class was about, I'm afraid they'd make me repeat those classes! The problem being I was Completely Distracted by ALL the Daydreaming I was doing from Girls that wore these Candies to class!! And Thank you once again for both Blessing & Cursing me w/ this Visual! Haha.

I had a navy, a neutral, and a white pair. I remember at the time how comfortable they were, wearing them all summer when not at school or at the barn. I wonder if I would still think so. Hmmmm? There definitely was no sneaking up on people in them however. My grandmother used to tease, "At least we know where you are."

Fresia Wow! Thank you sooooo much for taking us back to those wonderful summers! And your grand mother's comment had me laughing as well. Oh to have them return again! By the way, just in case you're feeling nostalgic summer is just around the corner (hint hint) :-)

Poor me, never had candies. Back in high school and 20's I wore moccasins, the kind that tied on the side , had two silver buttons and one pair that came to the knees. I think dr Skolls came later but clogs were around!

I wore Candies in high school (late-'70's - disco shoes, like the ones in previous posts on this thread). They had spiked-square heels, they weren't flat . Those flat wooden shoes were indeed Dr. Scholl's...shoes for old gals. I wouldn't have been caught dead in those...then or now.

Thongs are great if you are just walking around at home.

Those ARE cute, Hooligan. They'd look great with the right outfit, fine to wear in public.

I hope that wasn't your ACL as one that your tore.....I found out that once that ligament is torn & if no surgery is done to repair it, it ends up deteriorating.....5 years later I had NO ACL in my knee when my otrho went in to do the surgery.....at least I injured it playing racquetball on the challenge court against an A player.....I won & got helped off the court. Another guy who had the same ACL surgery I had at the same time had the same problem....his injury was from basketball but exactly 5 years later.....he his ACL had deteriorated also & the whole knee had to be reconstructed like mine.

Hoping that wasn't one of the ligaments that you tore. Surgery is a lot easier now than it was then before they did it arthroscopically.

During those 5 years my leg was so unstable there was no way I could wear anything that had a heal....I still can't as & have to continually strengthen my quads so that the knee stays stable. I have a brace made for my leg but don't wear it often....only for sports & skiing thank heavens I don't need it for riding my horse as that would be awkward.

anyway.....I stick with Birkenstock in the summer & I live in my fuzzy crocks & my after ski boots in the winter.....also, I have never worn more comfortable shoes than these dansko shoes

I had a bit of a chuckle - I have a few friends that may have had a similar pair too Sabrina (hmmm trying to scratch my head thinking if I ever had a pair; don't think I did - not that I can remember anyway)

Oh my, I would think you would remember something like....the sound of that wood clomping across the floor is a hard sound NOT to remember expecially if it were coming from YOU.

I remember my neighbor word those....LOL...I can still hear the clack clack of that wood on the sidewalks outside.

There are some sounds that are as hard to forget as actual looks sometimes.

Haha...Oh My EskieLover you are soooo correct about the "sound aspect" of these shoes when they're worn! And I'm trying to find another sound that even comes close??? Of course, one day I am hoping to be aroused by the distinctive "Clack Clack" of those Sandals which just might signal the Return of Such a Classic! ;-)
