The human brain is designed to see patterns. It plays a big part in our ability to recognize faces. But it also makes it so we see faces or objects or patterns in random data like static on TV or pictures of Mars. And surprisingly enough, our mood affects this phenomenon. The more excited or upbeat we're feeling, the higher our brain activity and the more we see these shapes and patterns. Pretty cool actually.
