Anyone get any good deals either Black Friday or Cyber Monday? I got all the harry potter movies for 68% off. Plus a pair of boots for my mom for 63% off. I've never done Black Friday, just the Cyber Monday Deals Week on Amazon.

I never did Black Friday but ended up going out to shop at 5:30 a.m. at Target because I was awake, so why not shop? Despite being open all night there was only about two or three other shoppers there, which really surprised me. Everything was very perfectly stacked on the shelves and it didn't look like there had been many shoppers out. I got the perfect CrockPot for my son. I wanted one that was programmable. The programmable ones are usually expensive but I found one at about 33% discounted. I got a robe and slippers, both 50% discounted. At another store I got angora yarn for a knitting project at 40% discount. I was finished shopping by 7 a.m., and there were no crowds, it was like shopping in a ghost town. I had a Starbucks Christmas coffee, and that was it. I also got a bunch of stuff to make up a Christmas box to send my best friend. I don't think shopping on Black Friday is for greedy customers. Why not take advantage of deep discounts? As well, there were no crowds, so shopping was really easy and enjoyable. I have often been a last minute shopper and it was very stressful, and with less merchandise to chose from, and no discounts. I will be doing Black Friday next year.

While we in Canada DO have sales the same weekend they are by no means near the extent of that south of the border. I had other business in the mall over the weekend and the average sale I saw was 20%. Not exactly something garnering lining up and brawling for.

Well, my point was that I saw no lining up and brawling at all. I think people are buying more online these days. What I saw were stores well organized, with no crowds or brawling or anything like that, cheerful clerks, and amazingly good deals. It was all quite civilized and the best part is I did not get stressed out shopping, and it was even snowing and I didn't get stressed out driving. Either this particular Black Friday was an anomaly, or some outrageous and isolated incidents have created a sort of myth about this day.

Ironically enough my DVD/wifi connection player died this week. I shopped online for the cyber Monday sales and got the one I was eyeing during the week for 75% off plus free shipping, and one for my brother's family as he no longer has one. They should arrive this week. I am so excited about this, basically a two for one deal. Last thing I wanted to be doing this time of year was shopping for myself with Christmas so close, but have to treat oneself once in awhile.
