Recently I've read a couple of posts by members who are thinking about leaving PC. And, as someone who has done this previously, I just wanted to offer a couple of insights. First, I think you'll regret it. I closed out my PC account, not because of anything here in PC. I was just disenchanted with the internet in general. And being kind-of a compulsive individual, I closed not only my PC account, but also my YouTube channel, my Google+ account, & my g-mail site. I had also had an Upload Society channel I had closed previously. Recently I downloaded Windows 10 & it sort-of revived my interest in being on the web. And, in thinking about where I wanted to be, I decided it was here on PC. I don't post my own Threads too often. Mostly I'm here to try to be supportive of other members.
Since returning to PC, one thing I have done is to make a conscious effort to customize my Profile. I also have a Signature picture & statement as you can see below. This was not a straight-forward process for me. Despite my having been on YouTube, Upload Society, etc. I'm not real savvy when it comes to anything related to computers, websites, etc. It has taken a bit of trial-&-error to figure everything out. But the more aspects of my Profile page, Signature, etc. that I customize the more I love being here. IT'S ME! (Or at least the best part of me... the way I'd like to be seen.) I know that sometimes people's Threads don't get replied to & feelings can get hurt. So far none of the few Threads I've created (since my Introductory Thread) have received a single reply. But that's okay. That's not why I'm here. And, as I wrote above, I LOVE how I "look" here on PC. So, before you decide to pack it in here, if you haven't already done so, customize every part of your profile, your Signature, etc. Make it all your own. And then, along with posting your own Threads, reply to lots of other members' Threads. I think you'll find it much more difficult to contemplate leaving PC... ![]() ![]() P.S. When I'm on PC, I frequently listen to music videos that have been uploaded onto YouTube (mostly Buddhist chant.) Anyway, I end up hearing allot of great music that I would never just sit down & listen to... a side benefit of the time I spend here...

I feel that way online and in everyday life. I´ve been so isolated and I crave human interaction. Hopefully I can help someone else and no focus on me so much.

To comment about you trouble with not getting posts to your threads. That's nothing to worry about I feel that general population here just lurks around, you should feel happy people are viewing your threads.

I'm extremely not tech savvy. At all. I'm new to PC and forums in general and don't even own a decent laptop ( I type on a mini tablet) I'm also over 50ish so I really have to look very close when typing ). Anyway I hope PC works for me. I need all the support I can get these days. Thanks for the encouragement ![]() ![]() |

I have great admiration for anyone who contributes positively to this forum, whether it's through supportive words, honest sharing, or simply through good intentions, because all of these things can be helpful in enriching members of this community.
Sometimes a post I've made will not get as much or as immediate a response as I might have thought it would based on the value I've perceived it could have for others, but I always remind myself that my having posted it creates a beacon for others in the future, so that the amount of response I get in the present is only the tip of what might be a much greater iceberg than I could ever know. Just the other day someone responded to a thread I'd started more than a year ago, saying that it got them out of a negative thought pattern, and this did make me very happy to see, however, I have also resigned myself to getting satisfaction out of merely meeting the challenge of maintaining appropriate faith in my own contribution and how it may be positively received by others without my knowing. It's like that old adage about planting a young seedling taking satisfaction in knowing that it will grow into a proud beauty for others to enjoy in the future. I try to ensure I plant good and decent trees, happy in the knowledge that others may find peace in shade they provide. But going back to the most excellent primary topic that Skeezyks has shared here: Even if I have to leave the orchard for a little while (I've taken breaks from PC), I know there's no reason for me to throw away a key. I once burned a set of diaries of mine, ones that I'd lengthily and faithfully filled out during my most formative years, at a time when it hurt to realize how innocent I was at the time, what easy prey I was then for some terrible wolves. But I wish I had thought then to just put them away in a special box somewhere, because at this point I'm sure they would be the source of some valuable revelations, or at least for a more complete sense of connection with myself. In any event.. these days I try to always at least leave a back door open. Lest some action I've taken in the heat of passion once again leaves me without access to elements of continuity where my spiritual life is concerned. ![]()
