I have an ant problem. They usually hang out in the kitchen, but I noticed that I find ants walking all over my laptop when I use it. Could they be inside the laptop? How do I get rid of them?

I spray cleaning stuff all around things that the ants are getting onto. It kills those around it & messes with their scent trail. It keeps new one's off & the ants that are on there will want to get off fairly soon or kill them when they get to an open place on it.

Only thing about some of those ants is that they smell horrible when they are squished.

I found my whole little brown sugar bowl that has a tight rubber seal with ants all inside of it. I sat it in a bowl of water & the ants accumulated outside of it all in one place. I sprayed then with the cleaning solution which washed them into the container of water & that was the end of a huge number of ants but they seem to find more things to get into. This is a BAD year for ants.

We live in a townhome that is built on a cement slab. So the little pavement ants are a constant problem. We have a critter-control service that comes in & baits the little buggers. But one of my neighbors says that they don't like mint. So she sets wet mint tea bags around & this apparently encourages them to go elsewhere... (probably over here to my place...) By the way... if you eat at your laptop, there may be crumbs inside that are drawing the little devils to your machine...

I tried this once and it worked like a charm (I'd read it somewhere)

Pour a few drops of ammonia near the window source where the ants are getting into your kitchen.

They won't come back!

O.O Man, that kicked up my old ant phobia. xD But, according to something random I found online, ants don't like heat and so it's unlikely that they'd be making a nest in something that produces a lot of heat. They apparently usually scurry AWAY from the heat and into our homes where it's nice and cool. I guess that's why they come out when the weather's hot.

LOL...the ants don't seem to mind crawling across my glass top stove when one of the burners are on.....& then manage to find their way into my microwave. Ants here on my farm come from even out of the walls they don't just choose to come in around the windows

Another thing that helps if you can stand it is to mix up some jam combined with borax (powdered laundry booster/household cleaner). The ants will not taste the borax and take it back to the colony where it will kill off the ones who eat it. It takes a little time but it's cheap and relatively safe (obviously keep it out of reach of children and pets) and it works pretty well.

Ants are attracted to the smell of the circuitry in the laptop. It smells like the formic acid they use to communicate. It's almost impossible to get them out once they are in.
