I watched a YouTube video on depression that says there's a link between our values and how we spend our time. If we do an activity that matches a value then there is a high sense of satisfaction which leads to higher self esteem, confidence, and happiness. But if we are doing something that is really low on our value list, there is little satisfaction. For instance, one of my values is family and if I were to do a game night or go out for a date with my husband, I would feel very satisfied. But if I cleaned the house instead of doing those things, I wouldn't feel too happy. The video says it's all about prioritizing what we want in life and then pursuing those things with how we spend our time. It also said that too often we are spending the majority of our time on things we don't really value.

So I'm curious to hear, what are your top 5 values? Do you feel like the way you spend your time reflects these, and if so how happy are you?

1) Honesty
2) Respect
3) family
4) loyalty
5) money

On a scale of 1 to 10 I'm a 4 as far as happy goes. I don't enjoy doing anything whether it lines up with my values or not. Well I do like to go to the casino when I can afford it but that's a rare occurrence these days.

This is very interesting and I'm glad you shared.

I like to think I have a stong moral social compass. Yes call me being on the left of center. I get a great deal of grief from people not being treated equally or behaving unethically. I suppose I am obsessive about this. I feel as though I am constantly let down. So yes, strong source of depression.

I have a strong link to the out of doors and am environmentally conscious. Being apart from it is also a source of depression.

Family is important and a source of pride and happiness.

Being active too is of importance and yes, my level of contentment rises and falls according to my activity level.

I'm down with anything that lets me explain why I don't feel the need to clean the house.
