I DVR'ed the opening ceremony, I'm going to watch it later. Just not in the mood to watch tv right now. I'll probably watch some of the events too, especially when the USA is playing.

Nope. Watching Numb3ers on ION, then the great British baking show then reading....anything is better than watching the Olympics. All I can see is the number of poor displaced and resources that would have better gone to the poor.

I'm watching it on my tablet (I'm on Psych Central on my computer), and it's reminding me that every opening ceremony of the Olympics seems to be choreographed by a guy on LSD.
Thanks for this!

I was watching with my sisters tonight. I'll definitely watch gymnastics as that's my favorite, but I really enjoyed the swimming and volleyball we watched tonight as well.

As always I am watching it. I've probably watched it fairly consistently since Sydney in 2000 when I was like 13.

The main things I watch are the athletics, swimming, diving, cycling (track) & archery. Of course I often pop on the TV to see whats being covered outwith those too... so... all of it?

I love the Olympics, and have watched it since 1972. My late father took my to the 1980 Olympic winter games in Lake Placid, NY. I was amazed by the ski jumping.

That said, I find some of the sports in the Olympics to be bizarre. The biathlon comes to mind. Who decided to combine cross-country skiing with rifle shooting?
Thanks for this!

Watched a little archery yesterday & a little fencing today. I didn't know fencing had become so hi-tech. Gymnastics is my favorite also. And snow skiing & jumping.
Thanks for this!

Well, I'm not watching the events but I have been paying attention to some of the results - like women's rugby sevens, mens volleyball, and women's soccer.

Has anyone else picked up on how racist the NBC commentators are being? I read an article recently that backs this up. Apparently, the darn commentators can't admit that women are just as athletic as the men, and say things like, "Looks like they should be in a mall.", regarding the women's gymnastic team, or the female swimmer who won "thanks to her husband's hard work". Can't a female athlete be great on their own, without being belittled, and having their hard work credited to men?

Here's the article BTW, just in case you're curious: The Media Are Saying And Doing A Bunch Of Sexist Stuff During The Olympics

Yes, I personally like the thrill of the close swimming races and the awe that gymnastics creates.

I like events that reflect real human feats, like the swimming, weightlifting, running, etc. I think tennis, rugby and other games sort of miss the point of having an olympic games.

LOL....I'd like to see even the sorry men commentators perform as well as the women do.

I don't have a TV & I don't pay for TV streaming on my computer but I do later on watch the videos of some of the performances.

I am personally into the equestrian events. That is where my interests lie, but I do enjoy watching the gymnastics & some of the swimming events. I like to see the thrill of the people whatever their country is that wins knowing how hard they ALL have worked to get there, there will always be someone who wins in EVERY competition & it's nice to see them (especially in swimming) realize at the end that they have actually won & the excitement they feel.

I love the Olympics because it gives anyone who is there a chance to win. I appreciate and respect the amount of work, dedication and time it takes to become an Olympian - I think the entire thing is good for humanity. There are problems and issues sure, but it's amazing and I watch it daily.

What a pity I didn't see this before!
I love watching the Olympics! Because they show sports that usually are never shown on tv. My favourite are the two kinds of gymnastics (artistic and rhythmic, hope these are the right words). Watched some rhythmic today, though unfortunately they don't show a lot of it here.
Then I like fencing, diving and horse riding
