I've been unemployed since summer 2010, aside from very sporadic freelance work, and yesterday I got a part time job.
It's not the greatest job in the world, it's telemarketing for a newspaper, and only pays minimum wage, plus a small commission on sales. It's Mon. to Fri. 5 to 9 pm with the option of working a full day shift on Sat. I really need the money, to supplement my savings which I've been living off of. I'm still looking for full time work, but this buys me some space in that it means I can support myself for the full year (assuming I can keep the job) without having to apply for disability or go to a family member for help. I feel really lucky to have landed this job. splitimage

Thank you all. And in new news, last week I got a better job.
The newspaper telemarketing job, was pretty grim, but I would have stuck it out, except I saw an ad for fundraisers for the local symphony orchestra. Well music is my passion, so I thought that would be better than flogging newspapers so I called them. The job is with an arts and non-profit telemarketing firm. The atmosphere seems much better, it's a better product, and a better commission structure. So I quit the newspaper place, and start at the fundraising place today. I'm really excited about it. splitimage
