Hi everyone, Happy Easter.

I just wanted to get this put in the open...
After about at 12 year hiatus from smoking, I began smoking cigarettes again. I have been under an extreme amount of stress and picked up this bad habit again...I really didn't want to, but felt that I would snap if I didn't do something to relieve it. I am so disappointed in myself to resorting to this and I really don't want my health to fail like it was all those years ago. I don't have time to do anything like exercise or go to support groups, but I have a couple of minutes to sneak off and smoke a couple of butts...

Anyone else have this issue???
How did you stop before it is too late?

I think the most important thing is to forgive yourself for being human. The more upset you are with yourself the harder it will be to get back on track. If you can treat yourself with kindness I think whatever you do to get past it-meditation, distracting yourself by doing something else, chewing gum, etc will work. When I quit there were no nicotine patches but maybe that will provide some relief?
Thanks for this!

Don't beat yourself up. Quitting cigarettes can be hard, especially when you're under stress. Get back on track and find some new things to relieve the stress.

Quitting takes practice. I "quit" about a hundred times before I really got the hang of it. I haven't had a cigarette in 25 years.

For me, I never allow myself to think that I've quit for good. I'm a smoking addict and always will be. I could go right back to it any time, probably much like you did.

My point is, learn from the experience of relapsing and try quitting again. If you relapse again, learn from it and try again. Lather rinse repeat until you win.

There are other remedies which can relief stress. Tea, "Rescue" drops (Rescue Remedy | Martin and Pleasance | Rescue Sleep, Rescue Cream, Rescue Pastilles, Rescue Chewing Gum. | Martin & Pleasance), Stabillium 200 tablets (based on a type of fish, is excellent for stress, I'm using it myself!).
