I agree with you, with the difference I wasn't invisible.

I've left social networks for an indefinite time period.
I have no practical use for them atm and in addition to the uselessness, they place unnecessary pressure and unrealistic expectations on me through social comparison.
E.g. SOmebody hit the ground running in life and shared photos of their fancy dinner evening from an elite Paris restaurant or a weekend shopping spree in Beijing and
I'm stuck in a third world country with humble room temperature lemonade in the summer heat, penniles, yet to land on my own feet.
There's nothing I did wrong in my life to fail to make a public spectacle out of it. My circumstances are different. That's all.
Yes, meaningful socialization may occur but not without a disturbing amount of time and energy wasted navigating through the masses of irrelevant, incompatible or straight-up unpleasant strangers.
Time and energy that I now need more than ever for far more important feats in life.

The most important people in my life are still the ones I've met irl despite having spent years on social networks.

I'm going to keep my Facebook account open for now at least, just because I cannot be bothered opening up another one if I remove myself again. It will also remove me from any groups that I'm subscribed to.

What gets me is that I post, but nobody seems to notice, nor care. As soon as I delete my account, they seem to notice I'm not on Facebook. Do they just go probing my profile and not acknowledge me at all otherwise? If so, they cannot be a real friend.

Define social media for me. Are these websites not supposed to get you meeting people? I've never been a fan of it. If you don't even have an exciting life, there's nothing to put on Facebook anyway.

I was told I need to wait 6 weeks for new support, which isn't bad. I've asked to be an extra in some films, but nobody has responded to me yet.
