I wonder sometimes if your life expectancy is not related to the requirement that you do something. For instance... my dad retired at 72 and within 3 years succumbed to dementia. I have often noticed that say when a caretaker's charge dies.. they die not too soon thereafter. I read a theory about the body one time that every day it checks in with you and examines you and if you aren't "doing" stuff... it starts shutting you down. I even think this could be mental and if your mind is focused on having to do things... *live* for something or someone else.. your body take efforts to keep you alive too.

My parents have been retired for 25 years and are only now starting to slow down. You're right, I also think it's necessary to stay active. I sure as heck don't need a job to do that.

I've seen it ruin people. Some don't even realize how much they have lost by having so much money.
Thanks for this!
