Has anyone used charcoal soap as a face cleanser? I have very sensitive and reactive skin, but it's oily. I bought a bar of charcoal soap and am wondering how others have experienced it?

I love my charcoal soap. I don't know anything about skin care really. But I bought it at a craft show a couple summers ago. I still have it lol.

I never tried it for my face, but have used charcoal soap to scrub of nasty, oily dirt from my hands.

I use a scrub once a week to deep clean my clogged pores followed by a face mask. It works pretty good.

Thank you all for your input. I'm giving the charcoal soap a try; I'll see how it works. I suspect that I have rosacea...my skin is hyper-sensitive and red. I've struggled with it all of my life. I'm hoping the charcoal helps.

I have sensitive skin and tbh can't tolerate soap of any kind, I use cleansers instead, and go for the unperfumed types (there's a range called 'Simple' in the UK not sure you can get it in the US). I have found micellar water very good (even removes eye make up but very gentle).

Thank you, prefabsprout. We do have 'Simple' here. If the charcoal soap turns out to be too harsh, I'll be checking out cleansers instead.
I just googled miceller water. It sounds lovely. My wacky skin tends to be oily (in addition to very sensitive), though, so the miceller might not clean well for me. |

We don't have charcoal soap, but my daughter uses a charcoal face mask and it works well for her. She has sensitive skin as well. She can't use products with chamomile in them. Neither can I for that matter.
I have rosacea and my dermatologist thinks it's an overpopulation of demodex, a mite. She tried a cream but it irritated my face, so I took some pills. It's looking better, but there's still some redness near my cheek bones. I also did a patch test of chemicals and found I was allergic to certain chemicals. I bought new shampoo and conditioner today and will see if it doesn't cause me a rash on my forehead. |

Thank you for your comment, Fharriage. How strange, about the demodex. Interesting, hmm.
I know just what you mean about the rash on the forehead. Grrr. |
