Ever have an idea or something but then get so distracted that you totally forget what your idea was? I have that very problem right now. I was going to write a thread about something and I'll be damned if the TV didn't distract me to the point where I forgot what I was going to write about in said thread.

I guess it was the fact that the show was a Nat Geo Explorer episode that was focusing on Japan and the emerging culture of it's young people. Specifically the fact that the young women want to go out and be the bread winners in their relationship, but the men don't want to be relegated to sitting at home being homemakers. So, there is a delicate balance between career oriented women and their equally career oriented husbands, while raising kids at the same time.

Oh, and there was a bit about the romance manga industry being tailored for young women so that they can live out their fantasies on paper, or in books, as it were.

Fascinating stuff, really, except I can't for the life of me figure out what I was going to make a thread about before I got swept up in Shoujo Romance Manga being flashed on the screen and the ever famous "kabe-don" move (the moment where the hot guy character slams his hand on the wall dramatically, pinning a girl character between him and said wall, thus inhibiting the girl character's moment and creating a hot and heavy moment between them) being portrayed by the Mangaka (Manga Artist) who was thought to have invented the thing.

Oh, now I'm getting distracted from the point I was trying to make with this thread.

Damn....

Oh well.

I decided not to fret over whatever it was that I was going to post about and take the opportunity to train my new puppy how to sit. He's a quick learner and already knows that if he sits when I say "sit" he gets a treat and praise. It only took a few tries.

Happens to me all the time. Sometimes I think I have ADD even though it is not necessarily the case.

Happens to me too. I think it's a combo of age and meds.

Not if they are within my interest. If the appropriate conditions are met, then I can concentrate for hours without distraction. However, if the subject disinterests me, then there is a decent probability that I cannot engage myself to the task to begin with.

I am very very easily distracted. Primarily because I have hard time sitting still. When I sit still I do ten things. Right now I am drinking tea eating a cookie watching tv show am on psycentral posting texting my mom and talking to my husband. All at the same time. It's all because I must sit still (had a small surgery and can't run around today ).

It does get worse with age too

I love the way you write and express yourself.
Personally, I have ADHD, so it's the norm for me. It has even gotten to the point of it annoying the crap out of me. Then, I realized that I needed to let things flow and fall in its place. At the given time. Not my time.
I was too fast paced. Trying to attach ends meet by trying to quickly accomplish things in life.
So I started to takes things easier and let those things flow and it has worked out for me.
Letting things flow in time, for me, was probably one of my best choices I have dedicated my time to take a part of, happen.
Hope all works out very well on your end.
Wish you the out most best!

Yup. If something bores me, I have a bad habit of getting lost inside my head and entertaining myself with the thoughts inside my head.

So I do have this issue to some extent, only for me, it happens solely when I'm bored.
Thanks for this!

Hi
I come from a family of people with ADHD. This way of thinking is such a common thing in my family haha!

(Have a Thought - oooooh something on tv - what was that thought? - oh well I'll train my puppy!)

It's frustrating for the person going through it, but I find people with ADHD charmingEver get distracted and lose track of thoughts and ideas easily?. They're never boring or dull. I actually married a man who has it !
Have you ever been tested? If this sort of thinking happens often, you may want to consider it

I was diagnosed with ADHD way back when I was in kindergarten. Apparently I was being too disruptive in class. I was put on Ritalin for about 10 years.

Makes sense Ever get distracted and lose track of thoughts and ideas easily?
I like to look at it like a superpower. My husband gets tons of things done around the house. He may not do them in order, but they get done in his way And when he hyper focuses, it's pretty impressive.
I love sharing my life with a person whose brain is ADHD

All the time. I will think of something to look up (or do or whatever, usually just look up) and will forget the very next second. Multiple times a day, every day. And then on top of that there are the times I want to finish reading whatever is on the page right now before looking up the thing I want and then forget. My brain is really stupid.

This situation got much worse for me when I started feeling the onset of my Major Depressive Disorder, and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I do believe that this tendency is strongly linked to these illnesses. It may also be a possible facet of other ailments.

It happens to me more when I am stressed and feeling myself 'drop' a bit.

My husband has complained of it happening to him as well; but I think for his part, it's because he is a tad hyper, and takes on an awful lot of things at once.

My focus and attention have gotten a little better with a med increase I initiated in the Springtime. I am delighted!

Try and practice memory games and intelligence games as often as you can. By also, consistently doing this, I've gently forced myself to regain an awful lot of things I once considered, "lost", to me. Experts also do recommend doing this to stave off memory loss and inattention problems as we age.
