Please tell me I'm not the only one fed up with 2017. This year has been so brutal. My home burned down, and today I broke down crying when I saw the photo on the front page of the newspaper of the young woman I knew who died in her burning home. This was not a fun year for me, but even so, there is so much I am blessed and grateful for. I have a strong, loving family and a roof above my head. I am not starving nor living in a shelter. I have the option to date who I please, and I sort of came out to my grandma and it didn't seem to bother her. My two cats are alive after being believed dead and adjusting to their foster homes, and their foster moms are people I know and trust. I have a lot to be thankful for. I honestly believe 2018 will outshine 2017.

How was your 2017? What will you miss the most? What will you miss the least? What advice would you tell yourself looking back that you would like to improve on in 2018? What is your 2018 mantra?

LiteraryLark I'm so sorry to hear the news of your home and friend being lost to fires in 2017. Out of the ashes, still I rise...Praying that you will continue to keep moving forward and journey on in 2018.
Thanks for this!

Sorry to hear that LL. Glad that you and Evy survive the fire.

2017 is a rough year for me too. I had trouble with my thesis, almost failed it, and it stressed me up. Later on, I struggled to find a job. When I got one, they pay me unfairly. I got a new job and turned out it worse than previous one. I ended up jobless. Also, I lost one of my pet turtles and my favorite singer.

The good ones are: I graduated. I found PC again and some cool sites. And I gained short job experience.

What I miss the most is the last moment with my pet turtle. What I miss the least are those horrible things that I've mentioned above. I'm not sure about the advice. But, I'm glad that I don't start 2018 as rough as how I started 2017.

LiteraryLark,
I am sorry about that young woman and all the distress you went through in 2017. It is healing for you to cry about this--be gentle on yourself, sometimes we have to feel badly before we can move on....

My thought today is Happy New Year and instead of New Year's resolutions let's ponder our New Year's Dreams. Just as you have done--let's count our blessings and enjoy our families, friends, and/or pets! For you, Literarylark, 2018 should easily beat 2017--out with the negative---you have no where to go but up, up, up....
Thanks for this!

I don't know how I feel about 2017 ending.

it was a really depressing year, and for most of it, life felt like it was at a standstill (like it has been for god knows how many years!). I don't think i'm really taking anything much in to 2018

I feel really depressed now that it is 2018, and I feel like I shouldn't even be here (like their's some kind of mistake)

and really selfish I am still taking up space on this earth.

their are people here who want to live in 2018.

let them.

I'm not sure I do

2017 was a nightmare mental health wise for me. I am in awe that I survived it. I'm an optimist though and always believe the best is yet to come. 2018 is going to be my year! I hope its yours too.
