Sooner or later we all have to face or relish the dreaded list of chores that must be done! :-0, Haha.
It's even been said that doing chores can be therapeutic to one's day and psyche! Hmm...wonder who in the heck said that!!??

I will admit that, while not my most favorite chore, I have a nack for finding lost change and small items under and in couches or chairs. And often get asked by my friends to come and do just that! (some of you will get that, haha)

What are your Favorite & Least Favorite Chores to do!??

Favorite & Least Favorite Chores

Well, as for therapeutic ... yeah, sometimes. I suffer from depression. There are times when just physically doing something and getting a chore out of the way and being productive does make me feel a little better. If I can bring myself to do things, it can be better than sitting in a miasma of despondency.

Looking over your chart ...

I must admit I'll never understand this "enjoyment" of cooking.

I've had people say, "You know when you just want to bake something?"

"Uh, no. I don't know what you're saying. You're using words in the english vocabulary, but you've assembled them in a way that can't be translated to any concept I understand."

But then I don't see what is so awful about taking the bins out. It's a job that only takes a minute or two, and is trivial.

I'd agree with the ironing being a futile, frustrating and deeply unpleasant task.

General cleaning up and laundry are fine.
Thanks for this!

Cooking is my favorite. I enjoy trying new recipes. Least favorite would be folding laundry and taking out the garbage.
Thanks for this!

Oh Wow! The 1st 2 responses to this thread are from Canadians! Although, one seems to enjoy Cooking more than the other! And I think we all agree that folding laundry is the least favorite among chores! I hate getting stuck in shirt pockets! Haha!!

Excellent! I'd like to order one large bucket of Canadian Snow Cream, complete with one of those Cooking Recipes that TSG likes to cook up as part of her favorite chores!

Only one large bucket? Pft. That's hardly enough to build a snow fort. As for recipes I can't share. You'll just have to come to Canada. Lol.

Lol!! Ahhh...And some things are worth the walking Up Hill in the snow both going & coming back! TSG's famous recipes surely must be among those things worth the journey! OR...should I just ask the Snow Fairy to pick up such recipes from you, when She makes her trip south to share the abundance of the white-stuff our Friends in Canada are now hoarding for themselves! *hehe*

Hmm that list you posted totally backward. I don't mind taking the garbage out or ironing and doing laundry but hate, absolutely hate vacuuming and cleaning house. Tell me two inch man how do you clean the toilet without riding the swirly?

LOL!!! Nammu so I take it that you've guess that cleaning the toilet, and trying to avoid going surfing in that swirly you mentioned, is my absolute worst and most despised chore EVER, as you can probably tell why (haha)!!! And also near the Top of my Least Fav Chores Ever is hearing the sound of the Vacuum coming my way!!

I’d have to say cooking is, or perhaps was, my favourite chore...

My least favourite by far is washing the dishes. I really wish I had a dishwasher.

I think part of the reason I cook less these days is the pile of dishes that gathers up. Wasn’t like that before my mental health problems started.

Favorite - mowing the lawn when I'm not mowing over a yellow jacket nest
Least - cleaning the gutters when I'm not encountering a yellow jacket nest

Ask me anything about wasps, I am an expert.

Oh, I went down into my crawl space to shoot a wasps’ nest with long-shot spray.

I don’t know why my neighbors are afraid to go down there. I’ve been under the house several times—most recently to check on the clean up crew after a pipe break. They missed an insulated HVAC pipe full of water. I would have had a mold disaster if I hadn’t gone down there.

If they were in the crawl space, they were probably yellow jackets. They like to nest in the ground. Be super careful because a yellow jacket is a social wasp. They shoot first and ask questions later and they also attack in packs. Always have an escape route when trying to eliminate a yellow jacket nest.

Love cooking... I hate doing house work, but yet I’m a neat freak with an immaculate home. When I’m stress I clean from top to bottom. Not that I want to do it. Mopping and cleaning the bathroom is the worst.
Thanks for this!

Denise the fact that your home is immaculate, and you clean from top to bottom when stressed out...My hope is that one day we'll find plenty of things out of place from time to time! Thanks for sharing your response!

I don't mind cleaning at all even doing the laundry and folding is ok with me.
When I owned a home I hated cutting the grass and shoveling snow the most.

I like having a clean home and I don't mind doing chores. My only issue with chores is having chronic back pain. Makes doing chores really difficult. Sucks. I think my favorite chore is doing laundry, least favorite is cooking...I'm burned out from cooking for my family for all the years the kids were growing up. I didn't mind it back then, but I'm not motivated to do it now.
Thanks for this!

I hate hate hate doing dishes. I despise it. If I do dishes right away, then it's not too bad. But if I let them sit with food still on them then I literally struggle not to throw up while doing the dishes. I like tidying up. Getting everything off the floor and put away where it's supposed to be. Sometimes when I get really depressed I lose the motivation for this and my apartment becomes an absolute mess. But other times, tidying up is very satisfying for me.

I adore doing the washing...especially sheets & bedding. Until I bought a new digital washing machine it wasn't quite as enjoyable, as my old washer would invariably try to run out the laundry door during each load. I love the myriad of washing and conditioning/starching products available, and hanging my wash in the fresh air. Folding and ironing them comes a close second....Just love the smell & feeling of fresh clean crisp cotton. Although I do own a dryer it is only used to fluff towels and put t shirts back into shape after washing...........Oh and my most hated chore?...that would be sweeping down cobwebs from my 16ft Ceilings whilst teetering precariously on my step ladder.
