Within the physical and mathematical definition of reality, how much of what can be known of the natural world (excluding what we can make or do) is already known? Would it be reasonable to say 5%, or is that too low, do you think?

I don't think you can answer that because the unfoldment of the universe is eternally ongoing. But for those who don't believe that and think this is it period 5% might be a good guess.

Classical Mechanics (CM) was thought to be near the end of completion until scientists started doing ultra low temperature experiments and also looking into the microscopic world, and then their equations just failed miserably. I read that CM had a life of about 150 years before QM hit the scene, and that QM is about 150 years old now. I can tell you there's a lot of noise in mainstream about Simulation theory, which is what I believe in. So if Simulation theory is true, then all of what we know is not even real. It's a simulation.
If by chance you're talking about how much of the Universe we're aware of, then the answer is practically none. The observable universe is about 93 billion lightyears in diameter. Mainstream does not know the size of the entire universe, but so far the best guesstimate puts it at about 3*10^23 times the diameter of the observable universe. Other guesstimate put it at 10^10^10^122, a number so large that no computer I'm aware of can actually print it without the multiple ^. |

If you told me that before the Big Bang there was nothing but grape marmalade, it would make just as much sense as any other theory of pre creation conditions.
Quantum mechanic theories are so “out there” that I do not even bother assimilating them into my reality, they have a high likelihood to be replaced with a new theory in light of new data using new technology. I’d say we know diddly squat. But we sure love to speculate. |

Hi. I'm not a mathematician so I can't answer your question from that angle, but as for trying to answer it from the physical angle, I've read some books and watched some videos on YouTube [heh], and well, we don't actually live in a physical universe wordshaker, it's mostly empty, everything, even us, our bodies, are mostly fresh air, nothingness. It's an illusion! Because within each individual atom, the spaces between particles are so massive that it is said - if you removed all that space between the atomic particles of every atom in the conceivable universe, you'd be left with about one square hectare of matter in the universe. One square hectare of matter in the entire universe. That's how non-physical the universe really is. It's all consciousness - the foundation of the universe isn't matter it's consciousness. That's where science needs to go next - into the study of consciousness.
I think we know less than a fraction of a percent of what's really going on in the universe wordshaker. It's fricken amazing. |

Unrelated, but came up yesterday, is our ability to detect gaze upon us, it's a primitive survival ability we have. But how do we detect it? Thanks again - sorry if I was coming off the jokester, I wasn't very awake yet. I'm actually quite interested! |

When people speak of the universe they are like Carl Sagan or Neal deGrasse Tyson. In that view all that exists is this physical state where things can be measured weighed-Quantum mechanics is maybe different I don't know. In reality the universe is composed of an infinite number of dimensions each one as solid as this one-when you're in one of them. Many of these are what they call consensus realities. That means that world is populated by persons of like mind. Nothing is permanent in any of these. So when you die you'll find yourself in the company of old friends doing what you and they did in earthly life. There are a few adepts at projection of consciousness around nowdays. They have books out and are on YouTube.
