today I came across someone in their 40's who'd never seen (or heard of) the lion king

I was shocked.. I asked her really?. that's been out since the late 90's- it's a classic disney film

butn ope.. she'd never heard of it and it really shocked me. I thought everyone knew that movie

so, what things have happened (or you've seen) that have really shocked you?

discuss!
Thanks for this!

This should have a trigger warning. I really didn't need to see this.

That Home Depot now pays a starting wage of $14 an hour. It has me thinking.

And that Toys R Us closing sales were not 30 percent off like they had advertised. Only 5 percent off legos? Seriously?

I'm with Travelinglady.....

That nothing shocks me anymore. Sadens me beyond belief but no longer shocks me.

A world with nothing to base their moral choices on other than how people feel about things will evolve into what we are seeing in todays world & will ONLY get worse.

I haven’t watched much television since the 90s.

It is startling to see how much actors have changed over time. I’m not criticizing at all—it just makes me face that I have gotten older too.
Thanks for this!

I am shocked that people don't know anymore news than what they hear in a 30sec blurb on a rock radio station. How utterly sad.

I am shocked that women would support Donald Trump in light of his degrading comments and actions towards women. I mean for instance he was caught on tape saying, "Grab them by their [genitals]." Why on earth would you support such a man?

I am shocked by the number of people who have no knowledge of anything beyond their borders.

I am shocked that people don't know that Islam, Judaism, and Christianity all believe in the same God and Old Testament.

I am shocked by the gun culture across the border.

I am shocked at racism and religious intolerance.

I am shocked that people actually believe the earth is flat.

I am shocked that so many people fail to believe in science.

I am shocked by the number of grown adults who can't tell time. In the same vein I am shocked that there are physically able adults out there who can't tie shoe laces.

I am shocked that people are up in arms because filling their own gas tank is apparently a problem. So too shocked that people can't change a tire or must rely on someone else to be responsible for their car maintenance.

I am sadly shocked that so many supposedly educated people are so lacking in English language skills that they can't form a sentence.

I am shocked that people think 'a lot' is one word, don't know the difference between 'then' and 'than' or 'affect' and 'effect', etc.

yes, you made me chuckle. But seriously, is this not a responsibility that comes with having a driver's license? Why would you not find out how?

Why does it have to be a responsibility? Why can't a person just call roadside assistance?

Also my husband is a mechanic. I've had 1 flat tire in 11 years of driving and he changed it.

Could this blow up in my face one day? Totally. When that happens your voice of reason shall ring in my head. Until then I'm good. I guess for what it's worth though in dire straights, I think I could do it.

Geez, you have one heck of a long list.

Add that it's "would have", not "would of".

I do not know how to change a tire. That's why I pay for roadside assistance.

I was shocked today when I went to yoga. There was this guy sitting in the corner of his room (we do yoga in our local community center) and when our instructor invited him to join, with her usual positive and bubbly demure, he replied that he wouldn't be doing that because (and I quote) "yoga is demonic". Shocked me to my core that people could still think in such ways in this day and age.

Well, the guy didn't move from his spot, and continued to work on his laptop until the instructor got the woman who was in charge to ask him to kindly leave as the room was reserved for that night. After he left, the room lightened up tremendously and our instructor cleansed the room again for good measure.

I'm all for believing in what moves you but really? Yoga being demonic?
