after a brief power outage, the blue light on my harddrive turned yellow. it is not blinking, it is just yellow. the red light on the power strip was blinking though. but after the power came back, my computer worked okay. still, i am sure the yellow light means something is not right. i changed the power strip but the harddrive light is still yellow. could the surge when the power came back on have damaged something?

It's hard to say. If you have a cheap power strip then, it could have done something to it or the computer may have just been protecting itself.
Try turning off the computer and the power strip and then look on the back of the computer for a little red switch that can be toggled back and forth. Move it one way and then back again. When you do there may be a little light on the back that lights up. Whether it does or not just turn the power strip back on and then try to boot up the computer and see if that fixes the problem.
Thanks for this!

Open the case and reset the bios by removing the battery and putting it back in.

Try turning the computer of and completely unplugging it. Also switch out the power strip it could have damaged. If that doesn’t work you may want to take it to the shop. If it still works make sure you back up any data or photos you don’t want to loose because it could abruptly die on you..
