What song do you feel represents where you are in this exact moment?

I have It's Time by Imagine Dragons on replay.

It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was
Now don't you understand
I'm never changing who I am
Thanks for this!

I suppose I'm still broken and angry. It took me five seconds to come back to Rufus wainwright's "14th Street"

You walked me down 14th Street, for the doctor to meet, after thoughts of the grave, in the home of the brave, and of the weak.
Why'd you have to break all my heart? Couldn't you have saved a little bit of it?... Couldn't you have saved a minor part? I could have clipped and saved and planted in the garden. Damn you, I guess I'll have to get a new one
Thanks for this!

Hmm. I listen to a lot of music — most from the 1950’s to that released on Tuesday.

At this exact moment I’m listening to Leonard Cohen’s Famous Blue Raincoat.

My song in the moment is "The Crunge" by the Led Zeppelin. The song has no particular meaning to me lyrically, but it reminds me a lot of how I used to comically annoy my dad when I'd play something incredibly caustic in my room - Backdoor Man by the Doors, Police on My Back by the Clash, etc......something that would get him to come into my room and glare at me with that WTF look on his face. . My dad passed away a few weeks ago, hence my absence from the boards. For some reason, the song connects me to my dad. I find solace in music from many of the threats I perceive in my life. It was obvious early in my life that dad wasn't a big "hard rock" fan.....he was more of an Elvis or Gerry and the Pacemakers kind of guy. I'll always remember he used to make fun of my music that played on the radio in the car on the way to hockey practice. A favorite target of his was Robert Plant and Led Zeppelin. I laugh when I think about when Physical Graffiti came out and the songs were all over the stations where I grew up. He'd always say something like "who are these losers" or "God, this is awful". But he surprised us all a few years ago by blurting out one day "I think I want to go see the Eagles in concert". We all cracked up - who are you, we said. So my sisters took him and my mom to the show. I'm not sure what it all means, but sometimes we need to find comfortable places to land.

Clinging to love, escape a father and mother
She offers some other way out of the hole
She's overachieving, chasing her dreams
And coming down slowly, yeah, it's out of control

Scrap the blues, if the blues don't work
Flash your teeth, though the inside hurts
it's time to glow, lose your way
To make you feel better just because you feel worse

Behind Blue Eyes - Limp Bizkit (It's a remake but I like their version MUCH better.)

Twice as fitting because I have blue eyes too.

Mmmmm....I dunno...LB's cover lacks the intense emotional expression of The Who.

I definitely disagree. I listened again just now to be sure, but I honestly can't stand the singer's voice... Which is probably a lot of why I don't like it. I also don't like the tune itself, it's faster and not as deep sounding. Everyone has their preferences though. x3 I tend to like remakes of older songs much better than the originals.

Avalanche is sullen and too thin
She starves herself to rid herself of sin
And the kick is so divine when she sees bones beneath her skin
And she says:
Hey baby can you bleed like me?
C'mon baby can you bleed like me

Chrissie's all dressed up and acting coy
Painted like a brand new Christmas toy
He's trying to figure out if he's a girl or he's a boy
He says:
Hey baby can you bleed like me?
C'mon baby can you bleed like me

Doodle takes dad's scissors to her skin
And when she does relief comes setting in
While she hides the scars she's making underneath her pretty clothes
She sings:
Hey baby can you bleed like me?
C'mon baby can you bleed like me

I'm guessing that a lot of musical preference has to do with what we grew up with. Not that I don't like the LB cover - it's good!

Now it's "Revel in Your Time" by Gunship.

I would kill to be with you
We could make it thunder
I would kill to be with you
We will make it through

The whole song is kinda rawr and cute like the chorus there is. It makes me think a lot about how I feel for my friend since we're both kinda rawr and cute.

Absolutely. Dion, Brubeck, Davis, Franklin, Supremes, Cole, the list goes on and then came my first Beatle 45rpm and by ‘67 I was rockin’ to what would have been thought of as alternative whatever.

I read the other day that rock ‘n roll was dead. No, it’s gone back to being ‘alternative’ again.
