at what age did you learn to swear?

or if not learn, copy a swear word someone else said

I first learned to swear at the age of 9

my mother introduced me to south park at that age and I just started coppying what they said
Thanks for this!

Definitely, younger than 9. My friends in the neighborhood had older siblings, hence older friends and well, it's something of an enigma that I can keep up with the best of them.
I think swearing is something that once the novelty wears off, it can be tamed.

Which reminds me of this once incident with some "friends" growing up. I was young. And I don't recall what they did, we were down near a stream playing and I let off a mouthful. And this one girl, whom I'd had "problems" with for years decided she would race me to my home to "tell my parents" that I swore. (hmmm makes me wonder what went on in her home) but I owned it to my parents and they thanked my honesty. And that was it.
Thanks for this!

I don’t remember when I first heard a swear word. I was born in the 60’s and people really didn’t swear, certainly not in front of kids. I probably heard it in a movie in my tweens.

But my son learned the F word at 2 because my husband would say it a lot on the phone when his work called.

One day, I was in Saks Fifth Avenue with the boys, age 2 and infant in the double stroller and my son wanted something I wouldn’t give him. He started yelling “Fyck you, Mommy!” And wouldn’t stop. All I could do was quickly wheel them out of the store while I got glaring dirty looks from snooty sales people.

I remember getting in trouble a lot for cussing in kindergarten, which is indicative of having already known the lingo.

I had a few relatives who swore around me from a young age. I remember cussing at my grandma when I was around 4 or 5. I didn't get in trouble that I remember, but I think she had a talk with my mommy dearest, because she swore less around me after that.

I knew cussing was 'wrong' though, so I didn't cuss much after that until I was a teenager. I still try not to swear around family.

I think I started around 10 or 11. I swore like a sailor when I was 12 around friends. Now I usually just swear in text or messenger.

I learned it from my dad and the South Park Movie. I also started watching South Park on a regular basis when I was 8.

I also learned some pretty dirty words from Stephen King books.

Lol....after I was 21 & dealing with the H I married. He drove me to swearing because there was just no other way at that time I knew how to express my frustration & anger....I PERFECTED it over the 33 years I lived with him & it stopped as soon as I left him.

Well, I learned about swearing very young and was always taught not to do it, but I learned not to give a fk in my teens and still swear quite a bit now.

around 6 or 7, I believe. My dad would swear a lot, especially when angry so that's where I got it from I suppose

Ha, I have no idea but I was a late bloomer but I have heard so good ones in my time. I can certainly swear like a sailor ( why are they given so much creativity for this?) now, but mostly do it when nobody but the cat is around......unless I'm in my car, man other drivers can set me off!

I didnt start until high school because my mom would have cracked me upside the head. It's been getting worse ever since. I control my tongue around kids, but I work with all men and curse words are not the worst of what comes out of our mouths. Lol
