I was a regular poster on here for over a year. Whenever I posted I got a good amount of support.

I left due to a combination of drama and paranoia. I'm now back under a new name and feel overall ignored/unnoticed.

I am the exact same person, but the response is very different when no one recognizes me. It's interesting as I've found new members point this out from time to time. Feeling left out. So if you are a new member reading this, it's not just you. You just have to dive in and get to know the amazing people here.

Also, if by chance you know who I am, by all means add or message me. Just please dont call me out publicly.

Cheers friends.

This is my second time here on PC as well. So I've had the "coming back" experience as well. In my case, I've been Skeezyks both times though. So when I came back other members knew it was me. It is a bit different for me too in that I rarely post my own threads.

It does take a while to become known here on PC. Things tend to move pretty quickly. But new members, or members returning under new names, just have to dive in, post their own threads, & especially reply to lots of other members' posts. And soon they will become important members of the PsychCentral community. It really is, from my perspective at least, just all up the new or returning member.

By the way... I love your username...

I've never had a new name and I feel ignored/unnoticed.

I think it's a shift in members...some leave, some join, the dynamics and the feel of PC has changed. There was a LOT of unnecessary drama here for about six months or longer...it may have scared off members.

I relate to what you mean about feeling unnoticed, but since I'm new here, I kept my expectations low so I wouldn't be too disappointed. Lol

I was hopeful that there would be a warm culture here. I am a "dive in" type of person for the most part. Luckily, I have been feeling welcomed by a few people who directly replied to me. Overall I do think this is a pretty supportive place from what I can tell in my 2 weeks(?) of being here!

Look how many posts I have, yet I've never received more than a handful of replies to anything I've posted. I do receive many caring and sweet messages.

I think it also depends on the fact that old members have very little info and experience with newer members. They don't know their stories or personalities so it may be more difficult to answer or give advice.

Great points. I wasnt at all meaning it in a negative way. Merely a reflection. People are curious to me, so I like to observe.

I clearly love PC and the people here.

I don't know who you are (but welcome back!)

I don't know honestly about the new member/ old member thing.

on one hand, a lot of newer members post their questions and never come back to check the replies, so I often wonder if the regulars just ignore those posts (it's a bad thing to say, but I believe that plays a part)

I also think though it's about how much is actually said in the thread.

it probbaly shouldn't be, but the more that's said and the more is described, the more members know how to help someone.
Thanks for this!

Perhaps. I've observed new members here and there feeling ignored/left out which discourages them from trying to become part of the community. However it's just like anywhere, the more you get involved, the more fun it is.

Also you have to take time to respond to other people's threads. The more you give, the more you get.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
