What's the longest you've been employed at a single company?

And what company was it? What job(s) did you do there? For me, it was a total of 5.5 years giving out free food at Sam's Club. I worked for their contractor, not for Sam's Club. You?

I will not disclose what company I work for, but I’ve been here for 12 years. My job includes spending lots of time on a computer and talking with lots of people throughout the day.

That's awesome. I'm just trying to beat my old record, which would be hard since 5.5 years is a long time. But I'll try and I'll be old 6 years later (mid-30's).

I’m already 40, so this is the job I’ve been at the longest. Anything before this was 3-5 years tops.

I was at two company’s for about 1.5 years. It will be a year at my current job in a few weeks. I have a feeling I Will be here for a long time unless I find one full time job. I am currently going to look for a second part time job.

It will be 8 years this month, where I'm currently employed. I've had 2 other jobs that were four years each and another length of time was 2 years. I also stayed home for a total of 4-5 years when my sons were all in diapers at the same time.

I worked at a company for 17+ years.

I worked for 3 years for the pediatric clinic that treated me when I was growing up. The doctor was head of pediatrics at the hospital, so I was able to work even when I was inpatient. Every other place was 2 years or less. On disability now.

Actually my current one. 10 years. I left jobs before because of moving or because I did not need to work more than one job anymore

I've worked at my current place of employment for going on 18 years. Probably be here for another 18 unless I give in and file for disability like my docs want.

13 years for me, in finance for a major multinational. Have only had spotty contract employment since then. Currently on disability.

When I beat my old record, I’ll prolly get a new job. With my first and second time at McDonald’s combined, I been with the company a year and a half. Just 4.5 years to go. Too bad I had to leave Sam’s Club where I gave out free food for half a decade. I had a mental breakdown that’s why.

I worked in a funky indie cafe for 13 years. I was a waitress, barista, and anything that needed to be done in the cafe. I moved to a different city. I miss my job.

3 years was the max. Was in education, then worked in banking for 4 years (separate companies). I thought that working for a single company for a long time was a good idea until I read this article showing that people who switch jobs more frequently earn more than if they had remained at the same job. Also, changing jobs is not a bad thing nowadays since most companies don't offer pensions for their long term employees, and salaries cap out while new employees earn at a higher rate than you started.

As much as I like novelty and variety, I would hate to change jobs too often. I also like some stability cuz I never had any in my life.

I worked for one aerospace company 2 times for 5.5 then 5 years for a total of 10.5 years at that company. The other 3 companies were for 1.5 years each. I was a computer firmware design engineer & aerospace contracts came & went & moving around to the companies that were hiring for new military contracts was normal in the field.

Then aerosoace in Calif crashed & so did I. I am now officially RETIRED though I work harder now doing volunteer work & caring for my farm.

I enjoyed my career. It was always a challenge & learning & designing how to make the hardware work according to the written specifications.

Yes. Changing jobs too often is tough. It's nice getting to know your co-workers in a deeper level since you're working with them every day.

13 years in a current work place. I only ever left jobs for salary advancement reasons or major relocation. Otherwise i prefer to stay put

4.5 years might be my record. The honeymoon period wears off within 18 months and I usually can't wait to get out by year 3.

17+ years in accounting at a major insurance company. On disability now but haven’t given up on the idea of going back.
