Forgiveness.
In my experience, trying to "forgive" an abuser is a prescription for giving yourself a new emotional malady. It should be stricken from the language. Except in the case of student loans where they forgive the balance after 20 years of course. ![]() |

"I apologize for consuming your chocolate stash. I am in the midst of menstruating"
Perhaps this is better than, on my period, in my period, having my period, on a rag...!

Yes, and it can take "tryna" and "imma" with it, along with "dis" and "dat." Nothing wrong with accents, but spelling it out that way is irksome.

Asking for sympathy. I don’t like asking for sympathy and I get bothered when people ask for sympathy.

I know what you mean there, but I also don't like the word "lover." No particular reason. Can't explain.

Dislike “utilize” and words that are overly trendy and pretentious. Also dislike when professional terms used that few people understand well unless they’re in the profession too, speak so you can easily be understood. Dislike “critical thinking” term as it bugs and seems pretentious.

"functional alcoholic". This I cant stand. If you are really an alcoholic there is nothing functional about your life. Even if you work, have money, avoid jail-the fact that youre an alcoholic means you are not functioning in a positive or healthy way.

I don't consider myself a militant feminist yet it bothers me when I hear people use outdated and politically incorrect terms like actress, waitress, stewardess, etc. These terms are light years out of correct usage. It is actor, server, flight attendant, and so on. They do the identical jobs as their male counterparts so should be addressed as such respectfully.

Any of the new made up "words". Bae, thot, etc. Combine that with abbreviations such as r u ok. Me 2. Sometimes I cant understand what people are saying anymore. Butchery of the English language is what it is.

Not so much the words themselves, but misspelling and mispronunciation. I'm referring to, for example, when people mean to say "got a hold of," but they say "got a holt of." Some people say acrost for across, pronounce the b in subtle, etc. There's a difference between informal and just badly educated. I don't go around correcting people, but I inwardly cringe.

I can be a spelling and grammar snob too, but I am trying to stop correcting people (especially on sites like these). Some people are very sensitive and get upset when I correct a word usage (even when they are in the wrong).
