have you ever told a childhood lie to a teacher/ parent/ friend, and did you get away with it?

I once told my mother that soft cuddly teddybears wern't allowed at my school (at the time I had this really nice bear and wanted to protect him)

she fell for it and I managed to hold on to him for a few more years until his stuffing fell out!

Had I not been at least a passably good liar, I find it difficult to imagine what might have happened to me...

I used to lie all the time. Or just keep things to myself. I wish I had been honest and spoken up. I wonder how things would have turned out for me.

I learned the hard way just to keep quiet and not to draw attention to myself.

I got mercilessly bullied every single year at school

So yes I did lie when the teachers asked me anything. I knew the bullies would bully me worse if I told the truth

Telling my parents when I was 6 that I had accidentally chopped half my hair off because it got "stuck" in the piece of paper I was cutting

No, I've never been a lying sort. Little stuff, sparing someone's feelings etc., steering clear of unnecessary trouble sure, but nothing of consequence. I'm not very good at it anyway. I actually found myself having to work on it on behalf of an unhealthy relationship. Covering for them, you know. It always made me HUGELY uncomfortable. TG that's over. I value my trustworthiness highly.

Nope....lying was never my thing nor has it ever been. Told my H (EX now) that lying would get him nowhere because I have my ways of learning the truth & my wrath would be worse for him if I found he lied than any reaction to truth he might tell me. Same applied to our daughter. H kept lying because he was so sure what he said was the truth until confronted by reality. Our daughter got it & had no problems with her. So glad not to live around his lies any more no matter how innocent he tried to act.....his other favorite thinking was "if I don't actually SAY anything then it's not a lie" witholding information is STILL A LIE!!!! It cost him his marriage. I am sure that is the way he grew up too.

Lie and the world lies with you; tell the truth and the world lies about you. You can't win; If you tell lies people will distrust you. If you tell the truth people will ignore you.
