Well, there you go again. There are professors who have come forward with their flying saucer accounts as well but you wouldn't know that because you haven't done any research. You make too many assumptions for me, sorry. Just do your own research. It's really quite easy and also the best way, imo, to determine anything. Now go and do your research and remember: 'Condemnation before investigation is the highest form of ignorance.' Good luck in your quest.
I was just curious

I used to believe heavily in aliens, ghosts, and conspiracy theories. Reading about that stuff was a huge hobby of mine, for years. I used to have an entire bookcase on ufology and cryptozoology and the paranormal. I then read about sleep paralysis and what is actually happening when I am sleeping, and now I’m pretty skeptical about everything. That stuff scares me now. All I have to do is think of the words “Alien Abductions” and I’ll sometimes leave the room if I’m alone and it’s dark.

If I feel like scaring the daylights out of myself I’ll go on Askreddit Scary. That usually results in a night or two with me sleeping with the light on in my room.

I’m more into Mandela Effects (which I don’t really believe in) and lost media now.

I believe the possibility that we are not alone in this universe. However if there is intelligent life out there they would have to have scientific abilities that we can not at this time wrap our heads around based on the laws of physics that we have now. The other thing I thought about... lets just say there are aliens or intelligent life forms out there. Who's to say they are friendly? Who's to say they would visit and greet us with gifts and smiles? I would be more concerned with intelligent life being interested in our resources or some other nefarious plan. But again, I do not believe we are equipped enough to grasp or understand the science behind other lifeforms if they do indeed exist. At the same time I wonder why so many people all seemed to have experienced similar things?

Stephen Hawking was always concerned of the existence of intelligent lifeforms out there. If we were visited by aliens, it could be our dooms day because they would be way more advanced technologically.

I am not interested in other lifeforms, and for me, keep them away if they exist. What I am interested in is harnessing the energy and resources in our solar system, but before that let's try to make life on Earth more peaceful and habitable place to live.

Carl Sagan has a beautiful contemplation about our place in the Universe, and it gives perspective. We live on a speck of dust in an infinite Universe, with no sign of life anywhere else so far, which means we are lucky (or not), yet we think we are important, and every group tries to destroy another because of some differences.
is the video for those who are interested.

If there were aliens out there more intelligent than us, then I honestly doubt they would bother with us or our resources. I'm pretty sure an intelligent advanced alien could find better resources on other planets that we wouldn't have the tech or resources to even reach, and wouldn't bother with us. Kinda like we don't bother with ants and cockroaches that don't get in our way.

But yeah, with millions of planets and billions of stars that our known to us (imagine what is unknown), the probability of at least some life not existing is practically null. Even if there aren't any other intelligent lifeforms, there is bound to be other life in earlier stages of evolution existing somewhere. A documentary that I saw awhile back (forgot it's name) brought up a good point of the possibility of intelligent life evolving very differently to suit their planet's environment. The documentary gave an example of sea creatures with intelligence comparable to humans on a planet with mostly water, but can also temporarily survive on land, walking on tentacle like limbs. Said sea creature used in the example also lacks our speech patterns, and instead communicates using sound.

This is all speculations. Even the probabilities aren't accurate because they are speculations as well. We might as well be the only life form in the Universe. Even if you have a planet like ours, life doesn't start automatically. Until this day scientists don't know how life started on Earth. They know that it started deep in the ocean because water dissolves particles and act as a medium for interactions and create new particles, but nothing more. The stages and their orders our planet went through are very unique, random, and unlikely. Even if you have a primitive life form somewhere, evolving to intelligent life might not be necessary. Most other species on Earth aren't intelligent, and they managed to survive. If humans went extinct tomorrow, the life on Earth would keep flourishing (better than with humans who destroyed this Planet and killed many species) until something external destroy the Earth.

Isn't all of our knowledge regarding everything outside of our planet speculation at this point? After all, humans haven't physically been beyond our moon as of yet.

We won't know what lies beyond until we see physical demonstrable evidence proving our knowledge. Until then, the probability of life outside of earth would be somewhere above 90% instead of 100%.

Not everything. Scientists are mapping planets similar to Earth using indirect evidence, for example, or studying black holes based on observing the surroundings of these black holes (the discovery of black holes was due to observing a binary star that has no other star visible, yet rotating as in other visible binary stars where pair of stars are locked in each others gravity, and rotating around each others). But no one knows about life, because there is not evidence we can observe directly or indirectly. Your probabilities are just speculations. The probability of life could be practically zero, but there is no way we know the probability. A probability is something measured based on observations. We cannot measure the probability of life, because ... well we are the only life we know.

This is turning out to be quiet a lively Thread. Lots of thoughts and theories from everyone. Well done to all so far.
As for my two pennies worth, maybe we are the aliens and we came from Mars many a year ago, after we sorted out the Dinos of course. Huummm aaahh, Dinos, and humans would never have got along I am guessing.

We definitely have evolved on Earth, and we didn't come as humans from somewhere else. The fossil record is telling us that. The extinction of Dinosaurs paved the way for our evolution. Some say may be the primitive life came from outer space. But the scientific hypothesis is that life started on Earth deep in the oceans.

I totally believe in aliens. I won't bore you with my uneducated theories, but 1) I believe aliens exist, 2) Aliens have visited Earth, 3) There's a possibility there are aliens among us, 4) There are multiple planets like Earth with varying levels of evolution 4) Aliens may not have the technology to venture to the Milky Way.

But because I believe in aliens, I don't watch any alien horror movies, scares the crap out of me if aliens are depicted as evil and to be feared.

I'll keep this short just to share my opinion. I've always believed in aliens ever since I was younger. I have no proof or evidence, it's just a feeling I've always had since I was very young. You can't base this on anything, it's more like a gut feeling, so I know this doesn't prove anything. I think there's a possibility that they exist and that they've been here for awhile.
