I never met one. But my mom saw Gary Coleman in a convenience store when she lived in Los Angelos in the 80’s. She avoided him since he was a pretty mean person. She also knew of Maria Shriver and encountered her and casually spoke with her a few times. We also have a pretty funny family story. Back in the late 80’s or early 90’s my Aunt was in an airport with my 2 cousins who were about 3 and 5. My aunt was giving them Twinkies and I kid you not, Richard Simmons came up to her and started yelling at her about how how unhealthy Twinkies are and he was basically calling her a bad parent.

Do you have any celebrity encounter stories?

Remember Blockbuster video rental stores? Went to one near us one evening to get a movie and saw a guy the size of a refrigerator standing with legs apart and hands locked behind his back inside the store. Close behind him were a shorter guy and stunning- looking woman looking to rent a video. At first I didn’t recognize the 2 people, then suddenly realized it was Eddie Murphy and his then-wife Nicole, with their bodyguard. Somehow they looked different up close.

I met my dream crush Joel Zimmerman AKA deadmau5 at the Gumball Rally. He picked up and wore my mau5head and signed it. First time I was ever starstruck, but omg he is my idol. I call him my baby and he's someone I fantasize about, so could you blame me for being at a loss for words? Lots of celebrities at the Gumball Rally but I had my heart set on seeing Joel. Tommy Lee was there, Tori Bellechi, Tony Hawk, pretty cool.

I was an extra for the Mythbuster's Walking Dead episode and I had a blast with Kari, Grant, and Tory. I got to eat Grant's leg and got photos with everybody. I talked to Kari a little bit and asked what her favorite Starbucks drink was...she doesn't like Starbucks! She talked to me about how much she loved San Francsico. They're all like who they are on the show. I even dated one of the extras I met there!

I held hands with Michael Franti after one of his shows at a festival. It was awesome. Very nice guy.

I met these two up-and-coming country singers I think like High Valley or something but they were D-bags. Really rude people--in fact, they insulted the whole crowd while they were on stage.

Those are the most memorable celebrities I've met. I've met a lot of low-key celebrities or just fandom-type people.

When I worked at the Superbowl, I searched some celebrities bags (decided not to be specific because part of my job is to be discreet). It made the job more interesting. Whenever the well known celebrities came through, things would get quieter which then caused me to look around and see who was going through the other lines. Seeing celebrities made my very routine job more interesting than usual.

I've met and hob-knobbed with: Kim Catrell, anabella sciorio, eric mccormick(ak?), fran drescher, christopher meloni, Laura tierney, andrew mccarthy, livingston taylor and I think there's a couple more I am forgetting. My friend is a playwrite and New school graduate and also worked at a theater in NYC and I got invited to some benefits so thats the only reason. It was always surreal.

I’ve met a good amount of famous and infamous people. I’m from a place where they are plentiful.

I've bumped into many actors, comedians, musicians, and athletes over the years, especially when I worked in downtown Vancouver. The area I worked in was where most of the big names stayed when they were in town. I didn't interact with any of them much other than a nod or friendly "Hello!" in passing.

Kind of unrelated, but I was having dinner at my cousins house last year. My cousins friend was working with Katie Couric on a project in the area. My cousin invited her friend and Katie Couric to have dinner with us. But they declined the offer. I was really disappointed. I was telling my Facebook friends on messenger and even my therapist that I had dinner at my cousins house and I was disappointed that Katie Couric didn’t show up. I think they thought I was joking. Or nuts.

I was at a Labor day party hosted by a professional Elvis Presley inpersonator. Corky Warren. It was 2 years ago. I met Deedee Sharp, One of the Coasters, and Arlene Sullivan of Philly Bandstand. It was a wonderful magical experience.

My mother used to officiate at track and field meets on the national level. When I was about 10, she was working at a big meet in LA and I got to give the award to the winner of the decathalon. It was Bruce Jenner!

I grew up & lived in So. Ca for 54 years. Ran into celebs at times even at the gym my company paid for membership at when I worked in Westwood. We frequented Beverly Hills for lunch at times too.

I also was a music major at the junior college with the daughter of a famous local news reporter. I actually did some performances with her & got to meet her parents when rehersing at her home.

Always winter ski vacationed to Jackson Hole every year. They had a celeb ski race each year. Going to that I had several encounters with celebs just chatting with them. Some were really nice....others really snotty.

When first driving & went to the post office in my little VW bug. Next to me parked a movie stars limo....opened his big limo door into my little bug.....ah....everyone is just human whether celeb or not

Yep. I met Ickey Woods in an elevator in the Palmer House Hilton hotel in Chicago. He is famous for playing in the NFL, his signature move the “Ickey Shuffle” end zone dance, and has appeared in various TV commercials. The NFL draft was headquartered at the hotel at the same time as my work conference. We were both going to our rooms. As a younger person who doesn’t follow football or watch much TV, I had no clue who he was, but my colleague sure did! I’m not impressed by prestige or fame, but was impressed with him because of his friendliness and humble nature. He even posed for a picture with my colleague which was thoughtful! I talked to lots of famous NFL stars that trip without intimidation because I just saw them as regular people. The look on some of my (American) football loving colleagues’ faces was priceless!!

Yes. Can't say many of them but I work in a place were celebrities often show up for various reasons... I will say one,, one day I was at work and the next person came in for their appointment and I was talking with her for a long time (we were having computer issues and me and the IT guy were joking and chatting with her) and someone pulled me aside to say did I know that was Dara Torres. Um.. honestly I had never heard of her. But I understand she is a famous olympian swimmer. She could not have been more delightful.

She wasn’t really a celebrity except to me. But did anyone see The Dark Knight? I knew the judge that got blown up in that movie. She was basically a step above an extra. But it was still cool knowing her.

My parents were also good friends with a famous baseball player. He went to their wedding and everything. They have pictures of him, and he signed his autobiography for them.

Celebrities crave privacy. Living in London one gets to see many, but personally I don't like to bother them. Maybe just a smile, but leave it at that.

Well, if you are Anglican, Church of England, or Episcopalean you would recognise the Archbishop of Canterbury as an important figure. I had the privilige of serving for him after which I spent the day fishing and BBQing with him. I met other famous people associated with church like Bishop Tutu and Shelby Spong, etc.

As a very young adult, I spent an evening chatting with George Thorogood. I didn't even know who he was until he was called to go out on stage. That was pretty cool.

I have met Chris Hadfield (Canadian astronaut). One of the Governors General of Canada attended my mother's funeral.

My father found himself sharing an elevator with the Dali Lama some years back. When they reached the bottom the door opened to flashing cameras and journalists. As he and the fellow parted ways, half the paparazzi followed my dad assuming he was someone important too.

Carly Simon sat next to me in a small bistro in NYC about 25 years ago. I didn't want to bother her so I just said "hello" and sat there and ate my brunch. She's a stunning woman in person, very tall and gracious. I was with an old girlfriend.....my mom hated her.

I enjoy watching Hiking With Kevin (Kevin Nealon, comedian, SNL alum, series on YouTube) and on one episode he hosted Jack Black. Jack was stopped over and over and over again by fans and he was loving it. He said celebrities get into it for the attention and if they say they don't like it, they're lying. haha I think it depends on personality type and he's probably an exception.

I met Joe Pantoliano (The Matrix, Risky Business, The Fugitive) at the Roger Ebert Film Festival. His film screened early in the festival but he stayed through all the days and was always chatting with whomever was nearby; super nice guy. He's an advocate for eliminating the stigma of mental illness, he actually called me about an email that I wrote to him.
Thanks for this!

Joe Pantoliano is a lovely man, full of empathy for those suffering mental illness, but he is interested in people from all walks of life. Joe is a great conversationalist. On several occasions I've met him connected with my workplace, so his writing to you was really very nice.

It's true what Jack Black said about celebrities grabbing attention. Some are so duplicitous it's sickening! I know wild stories about the nature of certain disreputable celebs, but not here.

You have a good weekend, okay? Nice natterinng to you.

I saw Bill Clinton twice. I shook hands with him once. Don't worry -- I washed my hands thoroughly after shaking. You never knew where his hands had been.
