Do any of you function better sticking to a schedule? Last night I decided to schedule my days.
Mornings: wake up, clock in for work, drink some water, exercise, make breakfast, continue working, read. Afternoon: Work on my soap business, read some more, write, do housework, have lunch. I'm going to try this and see if it works for me. ![]() |

It makes no sense for me planning, and it's kinda boring too. It happened to me that sometimes I made an schedule or a list of things to do and I ended up just doing what I wanted in that specific time. The only schedule I follow is school schedule.

My life is so erratic I can’t plan right down to the detail. I work two jobs and go two school full time, so I do have somewhat of a schedule.
For example today my first class is at 2:30. I’m going to go to school for 11, work on my paper, go to class, then I have a two hour break so work on my paper some more, and then go to my last class. I certainly don’t plan my meals or minor social interactions. Wednesdaymy day will be exactly the same except we have Mass at 11:30 so I’ll go to that before my 2:30 class |

Just discussed this at Support Group - the importance of maintaining a routine to our positive mood and mental health. Having a set routine is particularly important to stave off Depression. Even if you don't work it is crucial to do so else you fall into a negative pattern. It is part of daily self care. Have your breakfast. Take care of your hygiene. Get dressed. Schedule your day. Get outside. Exercise. Set aside a little time to do your household errands. Follow a set sleep hygiene.

![]() I have a work schedule which changes according to my archive work and 'jewelling', the 2nd schedule. Throughout the day I have public duties. After hours my home schedule varies according to my daughter's emotional needs. It's almost always centred on food, helping her with homework and then cooking us a jolly good meal.

I stick to a pretty predictable schedule/routine. I find it helps my depression and anxiety. Hugs Kit

Sort of. I don't need a strict schedule, but I need a routine that keeps me doing stuff. I have avoidant personality disorder. Having manageable things I feel obligated to do (preferably out of the house) is hugely important for me. Otherwise it all falls apart eventually.
It helps me with anxiety and depression too. Habits and routine are very helpful when you truly struggle just to do stuff. Oh -- I do maintain a fairly strict sleep schedule. That's very beneficial for me. It sounds like you work from home? I would think a set schedule would be very helpful to keep a person on track under those circumstances. Good for you for trying it. My number one advice for people is to simply try various things. Everyone is a little different. Does it help *you*? |

And then as soon as I become ill and dependent, all my schedules are suddenly thrown into disarray.

I try to stick with my routine every day i do allow it to be flexible for apps that may arise. The dog walks in the morning and afternoon are a must though.

I never had a schedule even when I was a computer engineer. We had deadlines & we did whatever schedule we needed to meet the deadline. Even now I have things I want to get done by a certain time & that is what I focus on. My dogs graze on their food & whenever their bowl is empty I prepare more with the suppliments & everything so even my dogs aren't on a schedule to help me be on one. Definitely not being on a schedule was not the cause of my depression so did it make it worse. Sleep however is something I need but I get it whenever I get tired now. No real schedule but follow my body's needs rather than a schedule.
Never did well with alarms or schedules from when I can remember but still excelled in school & other activities. Have always been a free spirit with schedules in my life.
