Well, like it or not winter is here so we might as well make a list of all of our favorite things about the season so we all don't get cabin fever or something
![]() My favorite thing about winter is...Snow! It's so pretty when it's falling, and it's fun to play in too. |

Kaika,
Great thread! Snow is beautiful when it is falling, and the day after when it blankets the countryside. When we have our first snowfall this week, just three inches, it brought out so many beautiful birds. There were blue jays, cardinals, robins and little two-tone grey birds. They were all crowding around out bird feeder on the back deck. ![]() EJ |

I like watching the snow fall. It's when it hits the ground that I don't like LOL. Where I live we don't usually just get snow we get ice with it.

My favorite thing is when the ground is frozen. It is much easier to carry horse feed to the barn over frozen ground than in mud.

Seeing snowmen made on people's front lawns. Making snow angels - even though I'm way too old for it I still like making snow angels. Watching the snow fall, while curled up on my couch drinking herbal tea. Watching dogs play in the snow.

gotta vote for snow too it's so much better than rain where I am; rain sticks to you and makes you wet and snow you can just wipe off
![]() some seasonal drinks and foods, like pumpkin stuff. I guess that's not WINTER but close enough! hmmm and cuddling up inside... I havent had a fire to sit infront of for a long time... brings back memories I want back

I love the way winter air smells.. so crisp, clean and refreshing.
I love snowflakes falling on me. I love when trees are covered with snow. I love the big fluffy snowflakes and watchen them fall. I love getting all bundled up and feeling warm when it is sooo cold and the wind is a howling and snow is everywhere. The sky is pretty awesome in winter. Stars shine and twinkle brighter. So beautiful, almost haunting. stars winking and the moon a smilen.... Everything will be ok .. wow... I love winter |

I'm with you, Radio Flyer - the air smells SO good.
The evergreen trees are beautiful with a fresh blanket of snow on them. I like the way sunlight and moonlight sparkles like diamonds on the snow. When it's really cold, I like the way the snow crunches under my feet. After being out in the cold, I like the relief I feel when I walk into a warm home. Hot chocolate doesn't just taste good, it warms all those nooks and crannies deep within. When I was young, my father used to wake me up on the weekends before dawn to watch the sunrise and take a walk in the woods. After our walk, we'd cook breakfast over a fire. We did this year round, regardless of the weather. One morning was brutally cold, and the snow was deep. I was having trouble keeping up with my dad in an open field. I complained that I was too cold. My father smiled at me and said "Isn't it GREAT? It's a reminder you're still alive." When I complained that my legs were tired and I couldn't walk any further, he said "Yes you can, you have a lot of spirit." After our walk, we still cooked breakfast. The warmth from the fire felt SO good, but we had to eat the food really fast before it froze. ![]() I like winter - it can provide strength....and a deeper appreciation for spring. ![]() |

Everyone keeps mentioning snow, and I'm jealous!! We rarely ever get snow, and when we do, it's not that much. We get all the ice and sleet and frozen stuff. lol But never any snow.
![]() Oddly enough, though, the thing I like most about winter here is the cold weather. ![]()

i love the smell of woodsmoke in the cold air. i also love to see fires in a fireplace.
sadly i live in a warm state and seldom see snow. my mom let us stay home from school if there was more than 1/2 inch of snow on the ground!!! silly but true. where we lived no one knew how to drive on snow or ice. it was practically an emergency if it sleeted. i have seen some wonderful falling snow once or twice when i lived in Oklahoma. snowflakes are amazing because no two are alike. isn't that a mind blowing thing!!! not trying to break guidelines here but that makes me think there is a God!!! i also love the crisp clean smell of wintry air. i love the pattern of bare tree branches outlined against the winter sky, especially close to sundown, it can be sheer poetry to glimpse. umm, nice. ![]()
