I'm trying to dig my poor depressed brain out of the past, and focus on the now and the future, with a view to the positive.
I like the very short hair styles with a beard I see on young men about town. I like that I see a lot more gender fluidity in the way people are dressing these days, young women are not afraid to dress in a way that would be considered "too masculine" in my day. I like the artistic way I see girls and boys are wearing their make up. We just used make up to hide our flaws or accentuate what we hoped were our best features, now it's a whole new thing, some of it drag-like and theatrical - and it's all wonderful. |

I usually dress like a guy so I wear a lot of bootcut jeans and mens T shirts. I prefer gender neutral colors but I’ll wear pink and purple if it’s mixed with black. In the summer I wear board shorts and in the cooler seasons I wear flannel shirts and hoodies. I wear my really hair short. I’m really comfortable with who I am and what I wear and no one gives me any trouble. I’m glad people especially people at work appreciate me for who I am.
I like the hipster look on people. And skinny jeans on guys.

I’m seeing more 80s styles coming back. That’s fun.

I really don't pay much attention. I live on my farm & I do most of my work myself so cloths easy to work in is critical. I don't care how I look. The bugs bite no matter how I dress
![]() Make-up sweats off so no point in that.....sore eyes that make-up sweats into.....not fun. Lol....am usually so busy I barely have time to shower & dress when going somewhere so even that needs to be quick & easy. I really like that it is ok rather than feel pressured to be less natural....not that it mattered to me anyway. I had a computer design engineer career which at the time was mostly a guys field. I basically dressed the female version of what the guys wore because I was always focused on being an equal which was exactly how I was treated so I never felt (or maybe I just didn't allow myself to feel) pressure by anyone to be different than I was.

I like the gender neutral approach to make up and dresses. I like the influence of bloggers to show people how to live fashionably without spending a lot of money.

Now that I am older I feel less strong-armed into applying make-up. At this point I have dispensed with foundation and simply drag blush and mascara across my face. Freedom! As for clothing I have accepted the fact I'm never going to have my slim 20s body again and this too has allowed me freedom to wear what I want even if it makes me look fat. I simply no longer try to hide it. This means shorts again (yay!) As for styles, I wear a lot of cotton flowy shirts and/or dresses. My husband calls me a hippy at times. Who cares, I am now dressing for comfort. I have noticed this summer I frequently wear tank tops and sports skirts. I do a great deal of shopping too off the clearance racks at Eddie Bauer and MEC (Mountain Equipment Coop outfitters). I don't know what style you would call this other than granola-eating-tree-hugging-whale-loving-camping-chic.

I like that there are many styles out there and no one is obligated to look certain way.
I dress mostly quite girly but I like comfortable clothes too. I do wear jewelry and make up most of the time unless I am working out or going to the pool. |

I agree, divine -- that there are so many styles so people can feel like themselves. I like that the fun haircolors have come back (hey, the punks started it in the mid 70s after all
![]() Getting back to the point though, lol... I like the diversity of styles now. (I look back to the old days and feel bad that things were so conformist. Sad.) There are things I don't like in current styles, but I'll keep those to myself (since this is a positive thread and all ![]() |

I feel that people should dress and do self-care exactly as they like. I like individuality and try not to judge anyone. I guess the only styles I don't understand are ones that look extremely uncomfortable (meaning struggling to walk in or being too tight, etc.) I am a fast mover and don't want anything to hold me back.
I never gave in to any peer pressure as a kid, teen, young woman, or otherwise. I wear very little makeup or none. I don't think I need it. Neither does my husband. That's all that matters to me. No boyfriends I ever had pressured me to be any other way. If one did, they probably wouldn't be my boyfriend for long. As for clothes, I like to wear pretty dresses on special occasions, but usually I just wear jeans or shorts with a pretty comfy blouse/shirt. I wear little jewelry, but I do own a lot of nice stuff I wear on occasion. |
