hey guys i have to write a research paper on president Bush for my honors history class.
i was wondering if anyone here was pretty knowledgable about him.
i already wrote about 5 pages but the problem is that the internet has barly anything good about him.

can anyone give me an example of him being a good leader?
maybe something that doesnt have to do with 9/11

or what about his reponce to econmic demands.. example?

it would be great if u could give me a link but if not thats jsut fine. let me know what you guys know.

Good luck with your paper Court!! I don't have any good info to give.

I did want to say though that we should probably respond to this in PM, because political discussions get heated and quickly.

Thanks,
Rayna

Court Knee, check out Google Scholar:

http://scholar.google.com/

It will give you only "academic" references instead of every Tom, ****, and Harry with a stray thought in their head :-)

the only thing youll find on google scholars is an article about him signing a bill or one of his speeches that he didnt write. i dont know why a history class is having you write something on a president that isnt really history considering he is still in office. lol. and the only books i have ever seen on him have been bad things, not good. maybe thats why its a challenge lol. good luck.

I'd call the reference librarian at your local library, see what suggestions/resources they might have:

It might not be an aporopriate time for Court Knee to write about admiring someone for literally "sticking to their guns." President Bush

Sorry, couldn't resist. I'll be good now.

Good luck, Court Knee. It does seem strange to write a historical piece on someone who's still in office. President Bush

That Whitehouse.gov site has everything you want. Enter HISTORY MAKING into the search window and it will give you a whole list of topics to look at...

Fact Sheet: November 2007 Marks Record 51st Consecutive Month of Job Growth
http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/economy/

Fact Sheet: 2007 Nation's Report Card Shows Minority Students Posting All-Time Highs
No Child Left Behind Is Helping Students Achieve Record Success http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/education/

I'm beginning to wonder about a few things now with this thread... TC!

President Bush has given us some Historically humorous moments...

like the time he tried exiting the giant decorative doors on visit in China... he forgot the real exit was just to his right behind the podium..(((((guffawwww))))!!!

uh, no offense intended, this is not a paid advertisement, etc......

I believe we are to respect those who have the rule over us, regardless of whether they are good or not. 1Peter 2:18-21 says God finds favor with us for doing so.

I certainly hope that wasn't the intention of this thread, to bash my President.

I want to back up what Rayna has said previously...

Discussions regarding politics/politicians can get heated quickly. Let's please refrain from discussion and focus on the request.

If you'll read the OP's initial post, she's asking for positive links and information about a political figure...that's all. She even gave an example of the type of response she's looking for.

If we can respond on topic with her request, please do so. However, let's refrain from personal opinion regarding this thus taking this request for school help into a political discussion. This is a request for help/information. It wouldn't benefit court_knee at all to see the thread become argumentative when she's asking for help.

Again, please *only* add something in direct response to her request...links and information regarding the now president of the US.

Thanks,

KD

i am sorry all... if i can salvage anything... as aleader, Mr. Bush is under pressure to present a positive image of himself and of America as our President.. the instance of the Chinese doors shows how it is impossible to be perfect for anyone...

as a leader, he is as fallible as anyone... i think...

some actions he's taken are destined to be historical on a large scale.. so he is in that sense a historical leader who is presently leading...

ok, ive talked too much again.....

Hey Court Knee - while I am not a huge fan of President Bush I think some of the absolutely best things he has done to show leadership while in office is when he personally visits and meets with people who have been victims of disasters. Look at some stuff I think from the hurricanes and other events where he is shown meeting with people one on one and hugging them. If you look at the people's faces, that meant the world to them and the President looks pretty emotional as well. While it may not have solved their problems and while it may have just been a photo op for our President (I sort of think not - that stuff is very hard to do with conviction if it is not what you believe you should be doing), it is my opinion that by having someone important show they care about the situation those people were given a sense of hope and a sense of importance - things that are important to all of us. Again, I think this shows leadershp because it would be easy for the President to send someone else from the government to do it and it probably would have been easier on his emotions as well - but he did the tough thing.

Good luck with you paper. Sometimes you learn the most when you have to argue an unpopular position.

did you highlight the whole thing down to the .html? for some reason it didnt highlight the entire link. you have to copy the whole thing and paste it. or just google "hitler time man of the year" and youll find it.
