Would you want to know how far the universe stretches, if it ever stops, how many galaxies and universes are out there?

Would you want to know what's beyond the stars?

Would you want to know if God, or any and all gods are real, if heaven or hell is real?

Would you want to know if aliens are real or if they really live among us?

Would you want to know if there are other beings like us on other planets?

These are some tough questions, to me at least. It's my own opinion, but I don't think I am ready to have these questions answered. I'd love to know if I go to heaven...but I can't imagine what heaven looks like. I know it'll be nothing--but better than--anything I ever dreamed. I don't know if I could handle knowing how far the universe goes...it's lonely on earth as it is. I've always been curious about aliens on other planets, and I wonder that maybe because any alien spacecraft have visited us, I have a hunch that aliens live among us already. But that's a crazy concept to.

And I worry, because of what has happened with COVID, that society is not ready for anything more than events on earth. I mean, we freak out because of a virus, what the heck are we going to do if aliens land on earth?

Maybe I'm rambling, it's just been some things on my mind...must be because of my sci-fi class.

This is why my uncle didnt want my younger cousin to read the awful books i read! You start asking questions! (The books i had loaned to her were Jane Eyre and David Copperfield.)

I started reading science fiction when i was in grade school. We watched space capsules orbit the Earth on closed circuit tv in class. But by the time we landed on the moon (1969) i had read SO much sci-fi, i was like, heck, havent we been to Jupiter and its moons, whats the big deal?

Who are your favorite authors? Ray Bradbury Theater is playing on antenna tv like all day on saturday and or sunday, its his short stories made in into tv plays. So great!

I don't necessarily have favorites but I really enjoyed Ray Bradbury's 2026 and Flowers for Algernon. There was another sci-fi piece where aliens come to Earth and ask for all the black people in America. It was very political of course and it was a very fascinating piece that questioned the black role in America and America's treatment of minorities.

Firewatch was also a very good piece about time travelling to WWII.

I used to read the classics and I’ve read Brave New World, Animal Farm, and Fahrenheit 451. The Giver was good too.

I think the scariest thing was the movie Signs. I watched it a lot when I was 11 and 12. That’s what really started my whole interest in sci fi and aliens and the paranormal and stuff.

I wouldn’t call it “freaking out” - COVID can and does have serious effects on people’s health and nobody can know how sick they’d get if they got it (I must say, I do often wonder how people who think those of us trying to stay safe are overreacting, would have acted during the days of the Black Plague!).
If aliens landed, it would really depend on what they wanted/did etc. Even if they did mean us all harm I can still see some humans forming groups siding with them!!
I’m curious about the size of the universe, I’ll admit - and even though I’m a staunch atheist, I’d love to confirm the whole gods thing and put the issue to bed once and for all.

Some of these questions cannot be answered yet or ever. To know far it stretches you have to be able to fly there faster than taking 100 years and we’d need stronger telescopes. It’s going to take more than our life time to explore that far away

God or gods and heaven and all that are matters of faith, not proof. There are so many different religions and beliefs that it wouldn’t be possible to have any proof as one often contradicts another. We wouldn’t all have different beliefs if there was one bearded god sitting in clouds and sinners definitely burning in actual hell. That’s just one belief amongst many

I love some sci fi but not about other planets as much. Blake Crouch’s The Dark Matter is the best, still waiting for a movie to be made. And Never Let me Go by Ishiguro is the saddest book I’ve ever read but it stayed with me, so meaningful

I would love to know if their was life on other planets (even on mars). I do believe in life on mars (always have)

I like the old joke about discovering "intelligent life" on other planets? Ha, we're still trying to discover it on our OWN planet!

Lark, the other day I was listening to interview on BBC world (amazing interviews around 7am every morning while I am driving to work), famous astronomer (Forgot her name) was talking about working on a project searching for life on other planets. She said we are no where near having answers because it simply is too far away. They measure distances and orbits and observe what they could but their highest hopes are for eventually having more powerful telescopes. Until then a lot of it is just a hypothesis. It was so interesting to me how someone made it into a career. I was almost late to work because when I got to work, I didn’t want to leave my car during the interview!
