I know I can’t put anyone on ignore because I have a lot of threads on the coffee shop and general social chat forums. But can someone put you on ignore if they have other general social type threads but on other parts of the forum? There’s a couple I want to reply to on the health section of this site.

Anyone CAN put anyone on ignore in any forum. Ignore is a personal thing & is not related to what forum you are on. They can't reply to your posts & you can't see what they post across all the forums in here

Ok. When I had someone on ignore I got talked to by the moderators and they said I couldn’t have anyone on ignore or my threads would have to be closed.

This feels like more of an issue you should contact a moderator about, imo.
Thanks for this!

Someone has me on ignore and I can still see their posts... edit. I just put that person on ignore and now I can't see their posts.

If they put you on ignore, they can't see your posts. You can still see theirs, unless you also have them on ignore.

The issue with the general threads is that if I (for example) had someone on ignore and started a thread, that person would not be able to reply to any thread I start. So for general threads that get lots of responses, you can ask a moderator to start it for you. That way the person you are ignoring can post, but you won't see their posts.
Thanks for this!

Thank you @downandlonely for explaining & giving a way around it if necessary

I just noticed I can see the post of someone I blocked if I haven't signed in. I guess there's no way around that.

If you have a person on ignore why would you want them to reply to your post? You wouldn't, would you?

They don't necessarily know you have them on ignore & are just replying to the thread topic. I have done that a couple of times & not someone I interfaced with much. Went to reply to the topic & found the person had me on ignore. I put them on ignore so I wouldn't even try to reply to them in the future.

Yes, generally you don't want them to reply. But if it's a general topic post, they may want to reply. We have some ones like that in Coffeehouse.

If you have someone on ignore, or if they have you on ignore, you can't start a community thread (like a check-in thread) because the person on ignore wouldn't be able to participate.

That is why the moderator said you can have them start the topic for you

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
