Here in Ontario, pedestrians pretty much have the right of way in most circumstances; much more so than in N.Y.S., where I'm originally from. But people push the boundaries, and behave so erratically and even dangerously. Just dealing with other vehicles is bad enough. But this kind of stuff makes driving an anxiety-riddled nightmare.
It’s a problem here for sure. People on bikes and scooters are on the sidewalks when they are supposed to be on the street. And they run lights and stop signs. Driving or walking is stressful enough without worrying about those people also. And a lot of jaywalking even on busy streets…

As a pedestrian I feel safer crossing the street in the middle of the block where I can see clearly cars from both sides. Too often even when I have the walk sign I’ve been nearly run over by cars making right turns without stopping first. The rule is stop first then right turn. So yeah, I jay walk. But I too hate bikes cause they run lights and stop signs all the time. And yeah, stay off the sidewalk.

I’ll do it on residential streets but not on a busy street with FAST traffic. As for cars turning right especially, I make sure they not only see me but stop like they should. Just cause they make eye contact doesn’t mean they’ll yield! I also have to watch out for people making left turns.

They are just watching oncoming traffic not pedestrians. So I’ve gotten nearly run over by people making turns. U-turns also. I even had a ***** honk at me because apparently I was walking too slow for her.

Yeah, once I was walking down the sidewalk past traffic that was barely moving and I was ignoring the honking thinking it was some irate driver upset at the stand still. Someone sitting in their car was pointing behind me and shouting. I turned around to see a car behind me ON the sidewalk gesturing and honking at me to get out of the way! He sped off down the sidewalk then cut across a parking lot out of sight. Scary 😧

Yeah it’s so dangerous for pedestrians yet they want people to walk or bike more since it’s better for the climate and all. But there’s so many impatient drivers not yielding to pedestrians at all.

I live in a big tourist town and come summer time it's sirens all day long...people getting killed or run over for being impatient or not paying attention.

Tourists are a big pet peeve of mine. They are hideously entitled and rude and will clear out the grocery store leaving nothing left for the locals. I've seen some horrendous behavior while cashiering. Once a person shoved a lady out of the way to get to the counter, told me she was an impatient tourist that couldn't care about our local membership and that she better be run up as quickly as possible and then told me "this is exactly why I don't come here"

I saw it on the BBC. I DO have trouble understanding them but it is racist to make them "sound Western" for the customer's "benefit".

Interesting. They've been trying to teach them American accents for years. Maybe they figure the software works better.

I also can’t stand it when people interrupt me or talk over me. I ended a friendship over that.

Also, people who repeat themselves, talk about themselves & their problems excessively, people who don’t listen, people who give unsolicited advice, naggers, people who check their phone all the time when they’re with you. That’s rude.

Me, me, me types. People who want & need attention all the time. Rude people, loud people, people who are to touchy feely. Especially those that try to touch you or hug you when you don’t even know them.

Guys who tell me to smile or guys who touch me inappropriately. People who are critical & judgemental. Especially about my looks & weight. I’m super sensitive about that.

Last but not least, slow drivers & people who take forever to text you back as well as people who try to force you to be in a pic or worse, those who like to snap surprise pics of people, they are the worst! Ugh!!!

Agree with all of the above. The thing about talking over me happens a lot. People dropping me for no apparent reason or not responding to messages.

And on another note....it's still August and the stores already have the Halloween stuff out! Rushing people to start thinking about the next overly commercialized holiday and to buy something for it NOW.

Owl...my parents and I work on Christmas presents as early as summer.

I do this because I've grown up in poverty, my parents always tried their hardest to give us a good Christmas, and when I hit my teens I wanted to repay their kindness and hard work by saving up early on to get them gifts.

And even now at 29 years old, my budgeting is better but there's always an uncertainty of waiting until October/November/December, so I start early. I find very unique gifts when I start early.

Halloween I do not understand. It's not hard to find a costume, but I think some people are really big on decorating and that takes planning.

I get talked over a lot too! Why do you think people do that? It’s rude! I also get dropped a lot for no apparent reason. I think that a lot of people get bored easily or that they drop you once they don’t need you anymore.

It sucks. A lot of people take forever to respond to my messages ar tunes too. It’s like I’m never a priority to them, ugh.

I don’t mind having the Halloween stuff out early as Halloween is my favorite holiday!

When I'm riding my bike on the avenue and vehicles stop or temporarily park right on the bike lane. I have to scoot over to the left of the vehicle and ride out in traffic; which on-going vehicles are supposed to be separated from the bicyclists.

I forgot to mention passive aggressive people & people who talk to much. My mom has both those traits, so we don’t get along with each other. She didn’t even wish me a Happy Birthday this year, but whatever.

As long as what you have to say is interesting, then it’s OK if one talks a lot. I draw the line at people who literally talk non stop.

My mom speaks pure jibberish and will say huh or go on & on even if you ask her a question. It’s like verbal diahrehha, ugh, lol 😆

My theories are that they either think what they have to say is more important than what I have to say, that they are so eager to speak that they start while I'm still speaking, or they don't realize they are doing it. Or all three.

I get so tired of telling people I'm talking. Also hate people who dominate discussions like in the book club. There's 2 overbearing women in there who take up most of the time or else go on tangents not related to the book. We have an hour, not all day. And if we did, they'd TAKE all day I bet.

I encounter that a lot at the senior center. And I'm encountering more men that do it too. Too much aftershave or cologne. Whatever it is, the smell lingers long after they have left the area. This happens in the grocery store too, that the smell lingers in the aisle they just left. It just makes me want to stay away from them. Not attractive in any way.
