Come on! Share your stories about it. What did you take in that you still can’t explain yourself how you took in. Or what joke did someone play on you or you onto others?

Here, in Spain, and if I’m not wrong (correct me if I am), other Spanish Speaking countries the Fools Day is on the 28th of December for religious cause. You know, the massacre of innocent newborns told in the Bible by Kind Herod.
So, Christmas was a time in which we used mock people. Innocent things as sticking a coin on the pavement and laugh at people who tried to pick it up, cigarettes that burst...things like that.

I remember one year on the News, on TV, it was said the leaning tower of Pissa fell down. Hahahaha. Of course, I believed it. 😂

😂😂😂 You made me remember similar things that used to happen when I was a kid.
Why a fish?
We used to hang on a paper doll on the backs. Is the thing about the fish a tradition where you are?
The fish was the sign of primitive Christians but it also could represent when a fish catches the hook. Am I right?

I think the fish thing is a French tradition. In French class in high school, we said "Poisson d'Avril" (April Fish) and taped fish to the backs of our classmates. Not sure if they still do this in France or not.

I am very gullible, so April Fool's Day is tough for me. I can be easily fooled.

I made meatloaf cupcakes with mashed potato frosting last year. They looked like chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting.
This year I cut out the letter e and E in pieces of cardboard and brown construction paper and put it in a pastry box with a note "Do not touch, brownies for later". Yep, both my kids tried to sneak one before dinner but haha... April fools!

That actually sounds pretty good. The meatloaf cupcakes. I'm not a big fan of sweets but I like meat and potatos.

Hahahaha! Well, there are worst things to tape on someone’s back, anyway.

Really, they didn’t give the weather forecast. Hahaha!
You see, now with the smart phones and these apps for the weather forecast this doesn’t happen. I agree that they fail as a monkey taking pictures but ...

Yes, it seems still is celebrated in places like France, Belgium or Quebec. And according to what I’ve just read it seems to have its origin in France, century XVI when there was a proposal to change the Julien calendar and set the first day of the year on the first of April. Because the light of days last longer, it’s the more or less the beginning of Spring and the beginning of many things (flowers, births) with it.
But, the effect that this try to change the calendar produced criticism and laughs among the population so it was stablished as the jokes and laughs day.

I’m also very innocent. I swear you that I believed the leaning tower of Pissa has fallen down. 😱

I guess the fish has a lot of sense, much more than the doll we stick on someone’s back. Indeed, here when someone believe a lie or a joke (I think in English it’s said mock on somebody, not sure), we say this person beats the hook.

P.S. It’s also celebrate in Switzerland.
Called Poisson d’Avril or Pesque d’Avril.

Without any doubt, April’s fools Day has more sense than the Innocents Day (in Spain and Latin-American countries). Who the hell had the brilliant idea of celebrate with tricks and jokes a day where according to the Bible, many babies were killed? What a chilling country I am in. That explains many things.

Hahahahaha! You’re a funny mummy. 😂
But, you know what...no play with brownies. It’s my favourite pastry. It’s unforgivable. lol!

I loved your anecdote.
