I posted in the pets forum about my dog dying earlier this week. The circumstances were bad. The day after was not much better. I am too friggin' old to be digging a hole to bury a 70 pound dog.

Then there's the nightmare of my income taxes. My return is complicated this year. I had an accountant do them. She made a mistake and is having to do them again.

We have not had rain in ages. Mother Nature apparently to make it up for the lack of rain this afternoon along with howling winds. The wind blew down part of the fence and siding on the barn.

Tonight it is all too much

I'm really sorry that you're having to deal with all that. It's overwhelming.

Hope things improve.dd

Thank you everyone. I'm doing a bit better today. I have a gameplan for dealing with all the "stuff" that happened last week. Having a plan helps me.

Taxes are done. Just need to write the check and mail it off.

I Jerry rigged a repair to the fence. I've been planning to replace that part of the fence soon. The "fix" will do for now.

I am ignoring the siding on the barn for now. It's on a part of the barn for storage. Going to give myself some time to decide if I want to tear it down or repair it.

I still miss BG, the dog. That's to be expected. I'm letting myself grieve him. I bought a rose bush yesterday that I am going to plant over him. Am also going to the shelter to see what's there. I was afraid I was rushing things, but a wonderful member here helped me listen to my heart. I'll post about the shelter visit afterward.

All good to hear, especially the part about the dog. I am happy to hear you're going to rescue one.

I am convinced rescue / shelter dogs know where they come from and are therefore grateful someone with a big heart gave them a nice home. So many need a home and it breaks my heart.

I could spend all day telling you how much I love dogs but I'd break the internet.

I had......that is HAD.....intentions of just laying low & recovering after 4 1/2 years of critter care. Then I would think about getting another dog. Was still paying vet bills on my horse I lost & had just lost my last eskie doggie (JoGI) then my daughter's dog got sick & mom had to make sure he had every possible chance to more vet bills. Emotionally exhausted & drained. Yea, that lasted about a month & my neighbor came across this black lab at the bar they go to. Owner is a vet in town so lets the shelter bring in their hard to home dogs. Sophie was going to be put down the next day & my neighbor was sure I needed her. I am thankful she did. Sophie is a sweetheart & so good & well trained. Only quirk is her "drama queen" response when I come home.....but it is sweet excitement too. Totally have been blessed by adopting her & she loves walks & truck rides.....something I was missing with the elderly doggies I had. Yea I miss the pure bred eskies I had, but every season of life is different (though I will always be an eskielover) & my heart & home opened up to this sweet girl in need.

Lol....first night was bad....she whined at the front door like "I want out of here". Next day she was snuggling & giving me kisses as we sat together. Love & caring wins hearts

The rose bush is a nice idea. I buried my little cat under a huge oak in the yard of the last place I lived. I say hello to her whenever I walk or ride by.
