It's been an amazing journey and I'm glad to see some of you from the olden days of yore are still here and find some benefit to the community after 2 decades! As long as people find it beneficial, I'll keep running it.

Thank you so much @DocJohn - this forum has saved my life in so many ways - being able to come here and express whatever I am feeling and going through and getting help from others. It has been a blessing to me for over a decade, and those who have been here for over 2 decades, (still can't believe it's been that long) - I am so glad you are still here giving everyone such great advice.

Thank you again.

Eskie and LadyShadow, your posts got me thinking back to when I first stumbled on what I think was Doc John's first forum sight. I was a complete mess - dissociating, self injuring, depressed. Just beginning to realize how abusive my marriage was. Since then I got depression under control. It's been years since I hurt myself. Hubby was in an accident that killed him ending the bad marriage. I told my pdoc once I was afraid to lose the ability to dissociate. It had helped me survive. I've since realized the ability is still there, but I don't need to use it anymore.

Went back to school. Got my Masters degree. Got licensed as a therapist. Worked with a ton of kids who I hope I helped. Now I'm enjoying the heck out of retirement.

Some times I look around at my life and am surprised. The life I have is what I always dreamed of.

I too was a mess when I first came here. I was off my meds and looking to rationalize my behavior. I read a ton of articles on Psych central and joined to comment on those. It took awhile to work up the nerve to join the forums. I learned a lot from others on here. Most of them have moved on. I’m very grateful doc John started this forum and has the moderators he does.

Since June 2012 I think? So about 13 years. I was 18 when I joined and I’m 31 now. I came here because I was experiencing psychosis and mania at the time and I didn’t know what was happening to me, things have changed a lot since then. I’m on the right meds and am consistent with those and therapy , and I haven’t been inpatient in the psych unit since July 2017.

This is the most awesome feeling I have ever experienced too. Never thought the life I wanted (farm life) at 8 yrs old would be what I ended up with after thinking my Computer Science/accounting degree & career was going to be my solution to the problems I thought I had

Since 2008, so 17 years. It's not nearly as busy as it once was, but thankfully a few old timers are still around to talk to. It's still a lifeline, especially since a site I enjoyed (not mental health though) is closing at the end of September.

Other changes and losses too, of different types none of which I'm happy about. I guess this site is a "constant" or an anchor....it's still here when other things have disappeared.

This thread looked familiar, and I see I did post in it before. But I guess I dropped the subscription when it was inactive for some time....

Thanks @nonightowl - it's good to see you. I resurrected this thread recently, just because - maybe to see who is new around here too. Or to see who has stuck around. But I always see you in the Games section which used to be so active with so many threads years ago.

Not a lot of traffic like there used to be for sure - but it's great to see some regular faces that I have stuck with it here over the years.

Thanks @LadyShadow! The games threads are mostly what I post in now, since there are many that are moving fast, such as The Person Below Me. It's a great distraction at least. And I didn't go to that forum at all until maybe a year or two ago? I think at one time it said something about video games and I don't do that.

The book and Trump threads seem to be ongoing, especially the latter.....Still I miss having other threads that are active in my subscriptions, other than games.

I used to find many more members actively online at the moment, or way more new members. Now it's all tapered off, sadly.
