Jimmy Buffet died yesterday. He was only 76. I'm not a parrothead, but love his music. This is really hitting me hard.

RIP Jimmy.

The beginning of the end of an era.

But it will drag out over the next 20 some years.

I saw that this morning. I couldn’t believe it, he was young yet.

Jimmy Rest in peace on a beach somewhere. 🏖️

Excellent idea Nammu. Gotta be a beach where he can surf though.

I’ve been sad about it too. “A Pirate Looks at 40” is one of my all time favorite songs. So poetic and so profound. Jimmy Buffet had that unique gift of being both a master of words and song. Another great one has left us! His job on earth is completed.

I didn’t even know he wrote books. I knew him from Wheel of Fortune. Where he was giving away houses in retirement communities. Nice houses. But his books sound a lot like David Barry so I’m interested in finding one to read. They sound funny.

Nammu, if you are looking for funny try his fiction. I loved A Salty Piece of Land and Swine Not! Haven't read his other fiction so don't know if they are funny or not. He also wrote two autobiographies (A Pirate Looks at Forty and A Priate Looks at Fifty). Both have funny bits, but are not strictly funny.
Thanks for this!

I liked Jimmy Buffett, especially in the beginning. NOTE: I'm sorry that I had posted that he passed away on the Music section. I somehow missed seeing Lizardlady posting it earlier than I did. Sorry about the mistake.

Thanks, that’s helpful. Oo autobiography, that would be interesting.

Nammu I think you would enjoy his two autobiographies, A Pirate Looks at 40/50.

I find it interesting that while lived his life as portrayed in his songs he was also a successful business man like his uncle Warren.
