I've had restless legs for three nights now and cannot sleep thru the night. I've done a slow, controlled withdrawal from Abilify under my doctor's supervision. I was trying to withdraw from Valium as well but i've abandoned that.

Does anybody else get the jimmy legs? What do you take? Did anyone else withdraw from Abilify and what were your side-effects?

I used to have jimmy legs especially when I was on Seroquel. Since switching to Saphris and Lomotrigine (Lactimal) I have found I am able to sleep at night without kicking the bed apart.
I know this probably doesn't help in your instance, but I hope for your sake that this is a withdrawal from the Abilify and will subside....

Ever since I started xanax and lamictal at night my jimmy legs are almost gone. They used to bother me so much. I would lay in bed and feel so "oochy" (seems the best word for this feeling) and my husband hated it bc he could sleep just fine until I started kicking around.

I had severe restless leg syndrome in my arms and back as well as legs. I twisted and jerked all night. I take manganese every morning now and that has stopped it. What a relief. I'd been to an orthomolecular psychiatrist years ago who recommended taking manganese if taking an antipsychotic to prevent tardive dyskinesia so I have done this. Recently I quit taking manganese for a month and all the jerking came back until I resumed taking it.

I used to have it in my arms really bad too, and I've always had it in my back. Torture.

Sorry, I just want to ask, do you mean manganese or magnesium? I take magnesium sometimes but I also get it confused in my mind with manganese. I had to check the bottle, lol.

I take magnesium tablets and I think zinc helps your system absorb it. I didn't get rid of the restless legs ive had all my medicated life though until I started the Lactimal

Magnesium has helped me with that! I hate restless legs, it's soooo frustrating so I feel your pain.

Hylands makes a restless leg tablet. They seem to help- it can be found at places like Whole Foods.

It's manganese that's works for me though I have heard magnesium is also good and I take that, too, but it's the manganese that makes the difference for me. Iron deficiency is also a cause of Restless Leg Syndrome for some if you are deficient. I've always taken manganese when I take an antipsychotic but I had RLS before antipsychotics so I can't only blame them. Clonazepam used to help at night but it didn't work for me this last time around but the supplements did. It was unbearable until I got back on the manganese. I hope it works for you, it's so awful I was going to jump out the window but I'm on the ground floor.
Thanks for this!
