I discovered tonight that since my only income is SS I don't have to pay any income tax for 2023! Now the downside of that is that my monthly benefit is ridiculously low, but I live very frugally and planned in advance for retirement.

I get that. Filed taxes last year for the first time in years, not because my income was that high but because witholding didn't get stopped when I was doing night watch for foaling season & I wanted my witheld money back.

I can definitely survive like you on just SS. I don't need much to live on at this point & I can still do some of the special things I want to do. I am happiest on my farm working & making it look better than when I bought it. Lol....I do the work cheaper than hiring it done if it is something I physically can do
